| Post subject: A GOOD Cigar!!! |
Hey, has anyone found a good cigar store in Shanghai?
I usually by at the Duty Free in Pudong Airport when leaving China, but i am running a bit low on my supply right now.
Any ideas? |

I buy pipe tobacco at a small (and I guess not quite legal ) place in Xiu Jia Hui. The tobacco is genuine and very reasonably priced. He sells cigars too and they are genuine, they would be about a third the cost of normal high street prices. |

I am back in Shanghai on Thursday evening and I could show you the place on Friday. You'd need a guide first time to find it! PM me if you are interested. |

I bought some cigars there on Sunday. OK prices. Cohiba's from 70RMB up. Romea y Juliets for 120RMB I think (but not the dodgy ones you buy on Maoming, quite a long style).
I bought some Dominican Rep. cigars there, hand rolled, tubed pack of 5 for 150 RMB I think.
They also have cigar humidifiers - BEWARE. I asked about a humidifier they had on display as I wanted to check the price as I recently bought an IDENTICAL humidifier. There it was 1200 RMB without bargining - I bought it at a pipe shop on Maoming/Nanchang Lu for 280 RMB. |

Metro has some, but i daubt that they keep them in good condition. When i was there the last time they had a couple in what looked like a humidor, but i did not buy any at that time. Also the prices seem to be about twice as much as in the Duty Free! |

The store on Ruijin/Huaihai has humidifiers where they store their Cohiba's and the like... they seem "semi" professional in there. |

The few cigars left at Metro in Pudong were rolled by Castro's grandmother. It is not a humidifier, it is a glass cupboard that doesn't even close properly.
Shikumen at XTD has some nifty humidifiers for hire and a fabulous room - 3rd floor. Even some hard to get Partegas, as well as the usual suspects. Not cheap though. |

Anybody ever been to Enva Gallery? I saw their ads in some expat mags and then I bumped into their shop and cigar lounge the other day over in Pudong on Zhangyang Lu near Laoshan Xi Lu. The lounge looks pretty high-class, but it's in a Chinese mall surrounded by restaurants and clothing stores, which is kind of wierd. I don't know anything about cigars and snifters but I thought it would be a good place to bring my CEO friends when we talk about mergers and IPOs. |

I've seen it but have never been in there. There's a good Korean retaurant on the 4th or 5th floor.
At the top of the JW Marriott at People Square is a higher class cigar lounge perhaps better suited for a CEO. |
