| Post subject: MotoGP Shanghai May 12-14th Who is going??? |
Sup all ya riders out there. No, not the 49cc scooter riders, hahah, anyways, Moto GP is coming on the weekend of May 12-14. I already got my 3 day ticket for 580rmb. If you want to know where you can get the tickets just do a search, ur'll find it.
I've been riding for over 2 years on a 03 R6, now that im in shanghai, Im not gonna miss out on a motogp event. I don't know many peopel here who are into riding as much as me, so Im going to this thing alone. If anyone is goin or wants to go, just let me know. I think Im going gonna go only on Sunday for the Race day, screw the practice and qualifying runs fri/sat, takes like an hour to get there.
For people who are not so familiar with sport bikes, lets just say these are teh F1 guys of motocycles and worshiped as gods on two wheels all over the world. It is absoultly the fastest motorcycles in the world ridden by the fastest riders, it will be really fun watching them.
Let me know

Ticket seems like a good price, but i will be watching it from my armchair in UK. But British GP will come round soon at good ole Donny.
MotoGP is well worth the dosh, so many F1 fanatics have converted to the sport as more exciting.
Like the race today in Turkey that was a corker and thrilling.

Pardon me my ignorance saleenr6, but what is a 03 R6? I ride a Honda CBR1000 Fireblade myself, great machine, very fast.
Unfortunately I am not in SH in May so I will miss the race
Enjoy the race. |

I visited the MotoGP last year, was nice, but cold and a little lonely, haha. Best moment was a major crash of the BMW safety car right in front of us. I have been looking for some people to visit the Motogp, I was born about 15 minutes walk form the Dutch TT circuit in Assen, so I need some people and beer when I go to the MotoGP. Count me in, just let me know which stand you're on, I have to buy tickets.
Just before moving to China I sold my R6............ Suzhou is not the best place to ride motorbikes.....

Hey,
Watch out for Stoner, he seems to be the rider on fire at the moment. |

Hi guys,
I just got to Beijing this Friday for work, and it would be such a travesty if I didn't try to make it to Shanghai grand prix next weekend (plus it's my b-day that Saturday). Problem is I don't speak Chinese and even though I'm pretty sure I can get to Shanghai and get a hotel, I am a bit worried about getting to the Circuit and, more importantly, back from the Circuit to the hotel (I went to Laguna Seca MotoGP last summer and the transportation was a disaster..)
Would you guys mind sharing some insight as to the best way to pull this off for me (this whole 'female traveling alone' thing doesn't bother me, but getting lost in the middle of Shanghei is about one step beyond even my sense of adventure lol) Any recommendations for a good hotel nearby? How to get to/from? I would be grateful for any help!
I live and race motorcycles in Texas with CMRA, met Colin Edwards a couple of times (he is a super nice guy!) and would love to see him race here - it would be pretty special. I have a street Honda 600rr, and race SV650 and CRF450 motard (and dabble in some flattrack and minis). One day when I grow up I might even be fast.. yeah, right LOL Oh, and Stoner really is somebody to watch this season - and can Hayden ever win a race or what..
Thanks!
Yuliya |

Hi LilSquid
There are shuttle buses leaving from Xujiahui, a large commercial area with hotels.
You can buy your admission ticket right there in the morning.
It cost RMB250 including everything (they even talk about lunch and karting included...)
Xujiahui is about 30 minutes from Hongqiao airport, with many hotels in between. email me if I can help : vtecnic@gmail.com
How about you guys, how do you plan to go to the track? |

hi all,
i'm also trying to work out exactly where the shuttle bus leaves from.
do you know the road junction? do you know the times of the shuttles?
i'm going to plump for the high grandstand as apparently you can see most of the track from there.
considering going for the three days - a lonely experience?
regards

I made a mistake
there is no shuttle bus. This is a private group organizing 1 bus and there is still some seats left
It is really for the MotoGP event though.
They'll call back tomorrow to confirm everything... |

Thanks for the information!
I am taking the last flight out to Beijing, it's at about 9.20pm (I assume departing from Hongqiao airport) - how long do you think it will take me to get there from the circuit with all the traffic on Sunday? I haven't flown domestically in China yet, do I really need to be at the airport 2 hours in advance?
Here is the tentative race schedule:

10:00~11:00am MotoGP free practice
11:15~12:15pm 250cc free practice
1:15~1:45pm 125cc Qualifying

Racetrack to Hongqiao airport after the race, not more than 2h
For domestic flights 1h is fine. Hongqiao airport is not big and fairly quick to get through
I remember seeing some cabs after the F1 race, there will probably be some for this event as well. |

Last year, due to the RAIN, it was EMPTY, so traffic and the like wasnt a problem. Was in a corporate box last year - loved the free sandwhichs....
The 250's were, as usual, a better sight than the Open big boys...! 2 hours to Hongqiao- can be done in under an hour.... |

7. There will be shuttle buses between the Shanghai city area and the Shanghai International Circuit. Those who hold a 2006 MotoGP ticket can take the shuttle bus free during the event. All the parking areas are open to the public free of charge during the event.
this is what it says on the official website - unable to find out from exactly where though and whether it is only for race day. |

That's what I'm seeing too, and can't find any details.
I am going to splurge for a Paddock Club, which comes with a free parking pass. Since I won't have a car, let me know if anyone wants to use it and give me a lift to the circuit and back dowtown or airport; otherwise, I'll just hire a taxi for a day and have him park there. |

hi,
just been down to the main ticket office (arse end of the bund) and found out that:
there is a free shuttle bus for ticket holders
it runs from 8 until 12 in the morning and then until 5.30 back.
it goes from shanghai stadium (666 tianyaoqiao rd) and Shanghai hongkou football stadium - apparently its about 40 minutes.
I'm going for the 3 days and have a cheapest ticket for the grandstand L.
bye
