Post subject: University course on various subjects in english for expats

Hello,

I'm looking for an information I got last automn (and forgot...) :

I read an article in the Shanghai Daily, about a new university program targeting expats. They offered various subjects, from MS Word practice to Chinese history. It was taughed by expats for expats.

I can't remember which university it was, nor their website.

Does anybody have an idea about this ?

Thanks !
Jerry

Hello Bellabella,

that's it Image, thank's !

I'm glad to know that you enjoy their chinese language course.
Could you please describe me how it is, practically ?
How many students are you in your course ? Who are they ?
How big is the classroom ? What is it equipped with ?
I've read that you have 2h30 lessons, twice a week. But 2h30 lessons, it's quite long, isn't it ? I suppose you make a break, don't you ?

Have you met people attending to other courses, others subjects ?

Well, I'm bombing you with my questions... sorry Image !

woah - many questions!! ok here goes...

Could you please describe me how it is, practically ? - well every class the teacher will give us a sheet with the vocabulary and sentence structures we'll learn in that class, we have a review of the previous lesson and then start going over the new work. i don't know how else to describe it, we practise with other students um... and that's it!

How many students are you in your course ? Who are they ? - in my class there are about 8 students if everyone attends and mostly are women of varying ages from mid 20s to about 40s i think

How big is the classroom ? What is it equipped with ? - the classroom is a regular size with a computer and projector that the teacher teaches the class from

I've read that you have 2h30 lessons, twice a week. But 2h30 lessons, it's quite long, isn't it ? I suppose you make a break, don't you ? - it sounds long but the review takes at least half an hour and we have a break in the middle - it doesn't feel too long

Have you met people attending to other courses, others subjects ? no sorry!

if you are interested in taking the course they might let you observe one of the classes before you book, we are in the middle of the course now and i don't think the new term is starting until september anyway.

They have even a summer term, but I will flee from "the oven", in summer.

Thank you for your help, Bellabella, and good luck for your improvements in Mandarin !
