I like City for their fresh sandwiches that are very reasonably priced, but I would agree that Pines is better overall. Plus you can buy a whole chicken from them that is huge for cheaper than the baby chicken you get from City for rmb 32.50. At a local supermarket you can get an EVEN BIGGER chicken for rmb 15.

i like chicken

Also depends where u live - I live 5 mins walking distance to the CITY SHOP on Huaihai/Shaanxi = Therefore for me this is the best for the things "I" need.

even though I live so close I ALWAYS use the delivery, beacuse I buy s##tloads of bottled water and the like which I am too arsed to carry home. Always give the lads a tip as well... but when you are spending 400 - 600 RMB on your grocieries like we do they should bloody deliver.

For me, the best supermarket allows me to have an one-stop shopping of most of the food items in my household. Under that definition, I can't pick one in your list. I always shop at several of them to complete the grocery list.

Likewise.. seems like each has something unique and necessary. Seldom go to Parksons.. but a month or so ago we walked in the look around at the HongQiao Parksons and they had Tillamook cheese for 6 RMB for half pound.. it my fav cheddar.. we bought alot. All kinds of good deal around if you are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
