Just a question:
How much time would you say you spend on naming your familiars? Do you spend any time at all? I just went through and renamed all my familiars pretty much, trying to pick out the best names based on what they were.
Anyone else do this, or do you just keep the default? |

I've named a few of them... the ones I like. But if it is a boring familiar or I haven't thought of an interesting name, I just leave the default.
How long did it take you to name all of yours? |

I probably spent about 30 minutes, but I was also doing other things, and when I was naming them, I would look up things like "Gravy" and "Starfish" in wikipedia to give me ideas. But now they all have original names. *L* Usually something to do with what they are, but some of them got stuck with some vampire themed names like "Dr.Acula" and "Alucard". |

I named all mine whenever I got them. They all have Japanese names. I tried to give them a name that matches their character or attributes. |

Well, that was a fine St. Sneaky Pete's day! I ended the day beaten up with a gnawed-off arm and serious confusion as well as well drunk! *hic* |

Once you have too many, its hard for me to feel like spending a lot of time on them, especially realizing that most of them will loose their weight on ascension. I can use that only a handful of familiars will end up gettin used.
I read on kol site taht 2 different guys that did hardcore asc in 2 days? how is that possible? You don't have access to all your stuff and you only 50-80 adv at the most per day - and you have to start from scratch building up all thats.. I don't see how its possible to do it in 2 days. |

Just like Andreas, I spend a few minutes thinking of an appropriate name for each of my familiars as I get them. Now I have 17 familiars and most of them have pretty creative names, often in some foreign language. |

It is possible because they have a lot of skills permed. You definitely don't do that on your first run. Those guys have done at least 25 HC ascensions already from which they have the necessary skills as HC permanent. |

You are getting indeed quite a nice collection. It's fun collecting them and their specific equipment. Even though you normally only use 3 or 4 familiars during a run. |

You need a moxie of 189, and muscle of 191 to beat them without being hit. Use potions and other moxie raising stuff. I will send you a stat buff which gives you 15 points extra on all stats |

Connery's Elixir of Audacity (Moxie)
Ferringo's Elixir of Power (Muscle)
will help you on the Golems. In fact krez, the Connery's Elixir of Audacity will be a great help for you. gothsusie, you can only have 3 Accordian Theif songs in your head at 1 time, unless you have a certain item. (This item is not easy to get) The rest of the buffs, you can get as many as you like.
Krez, also try goofballs if you plan on ascending the day you use goofballs. You can get your 1st free, 2nd for 1000 Meat, 3rd for 2000 Meat, etc. |

You can choose 3 of the AT buffs, and all of the others. |

Muscle is more than enough. So indeed moxie has to be increased. First look how you can optimize the equipment, by putting on moxie increasing items. Use from the buffbot the 'moxious madrigal'. the remainder can be achieved by taking the 'serum of sarcasm'. |

Andreas, thanks for your tips and help. I am fully buffed up and have beaten the Topiary Golems a few times, and tried solving the puzzle, only to have it stolen each time ( as also explained in the wiki) - i suppose I just have to keep going back and fighting for another puzzle, and then try again? Are the only ways to restore HP by sleeping and by buying a potion from the Doc? Or am I missing something? I use a lot of adventures on sleeping to get HP restored! |

krez, the maze can be frustrating at times, when yourmap get stolen all the time. For HP restore you can also use HP restoring weapons (like the clockwork sword, or clockwork staff), or a familiar like the Cocoabo, which restores both HP and MP. You can also restore HP by a HP restoring skill (pastamancers and saucerors have those for example) at the cost of some MP.
The Cocoabo is also a very good fighting familiar to use against the Naughty Sorceress |
