There is a boxing trainer who coaches at total fitness with bags of experience, you can catch him most afternoons along with the MMA lads. Ask for Paul. |

Mike, I'm opening up a huge MMA gym here in the city next month. Are you currently working for a particular gym or do you do at home personal training? We may have an opening for another boxing instructor- or the option to sublease space and a time slot for your classes. Drop me a line if you're interested. |

As far as price, in spite of the fact that our gym is 10 times bigger than our competitors, better equiped, and in my opinion better staffed, we'll actually be charging less than they do. As well as our regular student discounts, we're currently offering 40% off the listed price on the website for yearly and six month memberships.
Yes, we do need to earn a profit, pay the rent, keep the lights on etc... otherwise I'd teach for free, but I believe we can still make money without bleeding people dry and/or pandering exclusively to a yuppie crowd.
There are several trainers, including myself, Silas Maynard of Fighters Unite, and we are currently screening several exellent potential instructors for boxing, sanda, Muay Thai, women's self-defense, yoga, and aerobics classes. The full instructor roster will be available soon on our website.
I'll personally be teaching MMA, no-gi submission grappling (jiu-jitsu & catch wrestling), American kickboxing, kettlebells, combat conditioning, and kid's taekwondo. Any more than that in a week and it might start to get a little tiring. |

Hi all
California fitness on huahai lu has a boxing ring and heavy bag for members to use for free and the membership fee is around 4000rmb per year. The gym is clean and not overcrowded at all so if you are looking for a place to train yourself or with others, i think the place is not too bad if you live in city central. However, the MMA is definitely the biggest and possibly the most professional studio for boxing/martial art/ training in shanghai so far but only for people who would like to travel far to Minhang area.
My company also provides boxing and kick boxing training for everyone who is looking for high intensity fitness training to get fit or lose some extra body fat. I know most of you here are not looking for a personal training service but we have outdoor group bootcamp and semi private boxing group training for outdoor or indoor and the price is as little as 120rmb per person only. So if you are interested you check our websites at:

In all honesty.....It seems to be about making money in Shanghai re/training. We all need to make money, I know that. But some of the charges here in Shanghai are I feel, a little over the top....Walk into the wild card gym In Hollywood and you will be charged $50 a month - plus personal training if required. Gyms in the UK on average charge around 40 pounds a month. We are in a City where the people who live here (The Chinese) cannot afford to train because it's too expensive for them. I am not talking about the wealthy businessmen, but the ordinary guys who cannot afford 4/6000RMB, then on top of that pay for private lessons and training. Who knows, there may be a Manny Pacquiao out there who just cannot afford to see what he has got. |

I appreciate the endorsement! Our gym is actually right on the border of Xuhui and Minhang, in the Hongqiao area. Even so, we have people traveling from as far as Pudong to train here, and thanks to the recent extension of metro line 9, it will be an even faster trip. |
