| Post subject: new xiangyang market |
I understand that some of the xiangyang vendors have relocated to a market at 580 Nanjing Road. Has anyone been there? |

No, the others are going to set up shop in Shanghai Railway Station. Grab the tourists fresh and clean. |

I was at the Nanjing market on Friday and only about 40% of the stalls were occupied but of those, most only had a minimal amount of stock. There are three floors, clothing and home furnishing type stuff on the 1st and 2nd floors and handbags on the 3rd floor. I didn't check to see how the prices were since there wasn't enough available to make it worth my while, at least for now. |

I heard they were all locating to 3 different area around Shanghai. I think two of them were mentioned, Century Park and Nanjing Road, can't recall the name of the last one I was told about. |

somewhere in the Hong Qiao area is allegedly where a third groupo are going. i dont think there is any REAL organized offort to relocate them, just splinter groups who want to continue business that are working together to try and find a place where many can attract more business all together. |

I've noticed that lots more shops have opened up in Pearl City on Hongmei Lu - perhaps that's the place in Hongqiao that some of the vendors have moved to. |

Some of the merchants told me they were moving to Qi Pu Rd market, it's been there for a while. Never liked it as it's too big and can never find anything decent.
Best deals are still to be found in the little shops around the old Xiang Yang market, Xian Yang Rd, Fu Xing Rd, Shan Xi Rd, Chang Le Rd, Rui Jin Rd, Mao Ming Rd...etc |

Qi Pu Rd is totally a fake one, no need to try that.
for other locations, like Nanjing Rd, anybody checked that? is that real? seems everyone's talking about heard from others. can someone provide some place after checking and confirming they really are there so that we can go? |

I read on another website some moved to Qi Pu, so i dont know if its fake. I am currently in Beijing at the moment but am not satisfied with the selection of products here. Should i buy stuff in the silk alley here or take my chances in shanghai. |

Never been to Beijing so can't comment. You could do a bit of both? |

Qipu/Cheapo lu is mostly to cater locals and tourists not bargain-hunting for fake branded stuff. Most is 1-2 RMB underwear, t-shirts, pressed-carton 'leather' belts and the likes. Some of it breaks down before you've crossed Suzhou he walking back downtown. Did not hear many vendors willing to move to Qipu lu, different customer group. |
