| Post subject: About Personal Avatars |
The avatar thing has some minor problems on this forum, but ultimately. it will make much more fun, since you can have NOW your own special one.
The best way to have a personal avatar is to upload it in your account section. Right now you have to tell it to use the site avatar for your avatar in the forum.
Go to My Account,
Choose change your info.
In the profile window for the site.. half way down, there is a choice for personal avatar. Use the browse button and choose a graphic from your HD.
The graphic must be no more than 64x64 pixels. Use good taste. Once the avatar shows up in your site profile.. go to the FORUM
On the Forum screen. At the top of the forum screen
Click Profile.
At tthe bottom of the edit forum profile window it says Avatar control panel. Select "from postnuke".
It should work. Let me know if it doesn't. Use this anyway if you just want to use the site avatar for yours. |

Well, looks like we still have a bug with this. In your prfile you should be able to choose one of the postnuke or sample avatars. More later on the custom avatars. |

Thanks Lijunj for the info. I got it the 2nd time round after trying to put in my own personal avatar a couple of times and it didn't work. So, I have to use the fish instead. Now, I will have to depend on Michael to download a lot more Avatars for use.
I was looking at this website that contains a lot of anime, so now, I will leave it to Michael to do the magic, and I hope the site that I put up here could be linked nicely for use.
Here goes:

Cheers! |

OK.. if you want to upload your own avatar, that feature works now.
Go to your forum profile and at the bottom, there should be a box ot choose a file off your own HD and upload it.
MAKE SURE. your avatar graphic is height-width of no more than 64x64 pixels and less than 10K or it will not work.
Also, you can try looking at the dozens of avatars we have recently uploaded. There are 3 groups in the gallery.. check the pull down menu in the avatar gallery accessible from your forum profile ( show gallery) . |

Just to be clear..one more thing..
When you go into the Gallery.. choose an avatar..then at the bottom ..click on SELECT AVATAR.. then you are taken back to your profile page. THEN on your profile page.. click SUBMIT to save it. |

Michael,
You say that 64x64 is the maximum size, but your own avatar is 96x72. Drizzle's is 90x95. I'm a little confused.
I hope you'll increase the resolution constraints -- 64x64 is just too small. You could keep the 10k maximum file size and allow a higher resolution, maybe 100x100. |

Yes.. we have added some pixels to the allowed avatar size. I think its 100x95 and 13K now. |

Ok I found there are two places where you can change your avatar... One from "My Account" on the left side, the other from "Profile" on the top. The first doesnt do anything except changing the pic in the profile itself. The second one does change your avatar for good. How and why, I dont know. Mysteries.
Michael, pls take note. |

It is function of the site software and the forum software are two different systems. Changes in the works that will integrate that. |

What am I doing wrong? I don't see "Avatar control panel" on the Profile screen. Is this the right page I'm on? (http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/MDForum-profile-mode-editprofile.phtml) |

Avatars are now handled through the site profile under Myaccount. Change it under that change info icon.
If you still do not see it - In the Forum Profile.. you then may need to resynch the site avatar with your forum avatar. there should be an obvious button to do it in your forum profile. |
