Post subject: transferring orthodontist (brace)??? from US/Canada

Hello,
First of all, sorry to bring an old post back to life but I really want to know the answers to this. Right now I’m planning to get bracer here in Canada, which is going to cost me about $4000US and I can finance monthly ($175). My treatment will take about 2 years. Now my problem is that I might be moving to China within a 1 or so but I’m not show how the transfer works. For example
1. How much extra do I have to pay for the transfer??
2. How dose the transfer works??
3. Should I just wait till and get brace in China (shanghai, HK)?? If so what is the price different?? Worldlink and non-worldlink??

I am Canadian, A general answer first. In Canada, an extremly over-organised society you can ask questions like how much does such and such cost in Canada and the answer will be in a small range and in many instances is dictated by the governments or trade organizayions. But of course Canada is a socialist country and China isn't. Everything is up for bids and is negotiable.

Now for the dental answer. Like any other health problem when you move to another country you must find someone to continue the treatment and any good professional will value any information from your old care giver, but the realtionship with the new care giver is a new realtionship and the fees will have to be decided upon. it is not an formal handing over but a personal one.

Our dental departmentwill be happy to see you on your arrival.

thank you for your reply.

Right now , I have 2 options

1. Do the whole 2 year treatment in Canada which will cost me ($4000US)

or

2Start my treatment in Canada for 1 year and do rest of the 1 year in China?? 1 year treatment in canada is (US$2000). but I'm not sure how much is going to cost me if I want to do the last year in china????

how much roughly is a 2 years treatment in China??? I know is hard to tell without consultation but I just need a roughly estimate. 5000RMB??? 20,000rmb?? 80,000rmb???your help in this question is much needed.=) thank u

Price for adolescent braces (full treatment) in a Nanjing clinic is $US2700. Adults are a bit more expensive. Not sure how this would compare to Shanghai
