The 'new' Xiang Yang is an altogther much more sophisticated indoor affair on Nanjing road West, 5 mins walk up from Shimen No.1 metro stop (on other side of road). It's still finding it's feet but you can get pretty much most of the stuff you could buy at Xiang Yang, and some other things besides.

But there's also talk that there's one in Pudong. So which is the place whereby we can get most of the stuff?

The one in Pudong is under Science and Technology Museum. Go down to the Metro just by the Museum and it's there. Loads of Xiang Yang vendors and all the usual stuff but not many shoe stalls Crying or Very sad. The one on Nanjing Road is also good (and air conditioned!) with LOADS of fake bags on the top floor. If you want some fake goods like watches, you do have to ask as the 'fake police' are out in force!! Neither have the atmosphere of the old market (although the Pudong one is starting to develop the old toilet / drain smell!!) Maybe this will change as it gets more established. I thought there were more stalls at the one in Pudong and one of the vendors told me once they all relocate, 80% of the xiangyang vendors will be there.

Went there today ... basically not as crowded as the old Xiangyang and it's more spaced out. It's not crowded at all. Probably becoz' it's a weekday.

Either that or they just got raided. Someone said it wasn't big and was disappointing. In my opinion, I thought the size of the place is pretty decent except there were just too many stalls repeating itself.

But well, Xiangyang was like this too. I would like to bring your attention to this particular stall which sold pretty nice and unique cushion covers and table runners at a decent price. She's a very nice lady.

Her stall is on the 2nd floor near the escalator. The shop number is 53B, it's a pretty small shop so you might just miss it. She's got some pretty good stuff.

I cannot imagine how much bigger the Pudong place is but I'd be sure to pay the place a visit one of these days.
