Post subject: Bank account for F visa holder

Hi,

I have just had some money wired over to HK and brought here to Shanghai as RMB and now wish to place safely in bank account.

I have used HSBC here before - limited service, no ATM card but useful for wiring to HSBC elsewhere. I have also used local banks before -ICBC (shocking) and BoC and found certain cultural issues and local queues driving me nuts.

This leaves me with the dilemma of either sticking with HSBC or opening an account with one of the newer banks here - communications, Pudong Devt, Shanghai ... actually i know little of these and not sure if would be a prob opening considering foreign status and being on an F visa. Also i dont have the exchange slips for the HKD to RMB transcations as binned it while packing up down there Sad

Any ideas and suggestions appreciated

Just open an account at Bank of China. They are really good and take good care of you. For deposits you can deposit it through the bank machine after you open the account if your worried.
