http://www.epicurious.com/
http://about.com/food/
two good recipe sites that can be perused at your leisure. Epicurious is good because you can search based on food specifcally, if you don't have any recipes in mind. I haven't really used the about.com one that often so not too sure about it's search mechanism. |

I think if you wanna learn, then try to be creative and imagine what kinds of food will taste good together and how to cook it..in the beginning it will probably not taste so good, because you are not used to it. But everytime you have made something evaluate it and then you will know what to change and how to make it better next time! That is how I learned, and this makes me a great chef!!! |

I think for one person and given the hot weather these days it is better to cook soup and eat with rice or noodle. Just one suggestion:-
winter melon + meat(chicken/pork/beef) + mushroom (dried or fresh). Just cut everything in dice and then cook in water or canned borth (personally I like water because I don't like msg) for 10 - 15 min. Add salt for flavouring. When serving then use a big bowl and put bowl of rice (better make in shape of a dome) and then pour in the soup and ingredients . Serve. (if you don't like then you can serve soup and rice separately)
This is one of my favourite simple recipe for fewer people and it is easy to cook. Hope you like it if you would try. |

i like soup with dong gua too, i put in vinegar and garlic too and dried chillis
the easiest thing I know is is you take some eggs, whisk, add salt, heat oil (high flame), add egg, egg puffs up, break down into pieces, add ginger, add black fragrant vinegar, add a splash of soy sauce et voila. you can add msg if you want.
also you can take some big bai cai and slice, cook with some dried chillis and garlic cloves on a high flame, then add vingar at the end, salt etc.
another thing is you can take a fish and put it on a plate on a rack inside your pan, put on ginger and maybe some garlic and steam it, then fry long green onions, add soy sauce and pour it over the steamed fish.
you can make a nice pasta with some of the very gorgeous mushrooms here- e.g. the pale flat ones. Cook with olive oil, thinly sliced onion and some cloves of minced garlic, white wine, perhaps basil, cream, black pepper, salt. eat with tagliatelle. |

Am up a jean size because of this at the moment. Had the BEST Tagliatelle made by Mrs. Walrus' mother - about an hour outside of Bologna. Tagliatelle con Ragu (with the sauce being "lepre" - i.e. "hare). The best....all "fatto a mano" |

go to allrecipes.com as suggested above. The fun thing with this site is that you can type in what ingredients you already have in your fridge, cupboards etc, and it will come up with a recipe!! It's loads of fun! |

If you like salad this is a nice recipe:
Make a fruit salad, pineapple, mango, grapes... ( should be fresh fruits), add some cooked shrimp and slice of salmon and make a French vinagrette dressing with olive oil, vinegar, mustard and some spices.
It is a change from the ordinary salad.
It seems weird but quite yummy.
Enjoy. |
