Rebecka T?rnqvist was probably the most important artist in raising the interest in young female jazz vocalists in Sweden in the '90s, though her solo albums weren't pure jazz, but rather pop with heavy jazz influences. Apart from getting a number of followers in this style, she also revitalized the interest for the whole genre.
Jay-Jay Johanson has swept mediterranean Europe with his rat pack muzak and mellow trip hop for years, achieving stardom far from his native, cold and indifferent Sweden.
Now, after a decade??s worth of stardom and a decisive move toward a sleeker, but also more complex kind of electronic pop, the biggest country in the Asia awaits his coming. |

Wow! Jay Jay Johanson in Shanghai! I saw him in Benicassim Music Festival in 2000 (or was it 1999? gosh how old I am!) then in Apolo in Barcelona sometime between 2001 and 2004...
Too bad that I left all his CDs back in Spain, I'll have to emule 'em before the concert. Won't miss it! |
