Post subject: House

Ok, I just started watching House, trying to figure out if I like Dr. House or not. It's the episode with the TB doctor from Africa, and House tells him he's going to let him die and then tell the media he didn't die of TB. The TB doc asks him why he would do that, and House says "Because I'm a mean son of a bitch". And that's when I decided: I love this man.

But I have a couple of questions:

1. What's up with the cane? Did they ever explain that?

2. How many seasons have there been already? If I'm watching it on Shanghai tv, must be at least 1-2.

3. Do the medical inaccuracies drive anyone else nuts besides me?

Thanks for any info!

1. My guess is that the cane is there to help House with his stagger.

2. The third season of House recently premiered on US and Canadian television.

3. You shouldn't watch a show like House for its medical accuracies, just as you shouldn't watch a show like Boston Legal for its accuracies pertaining to the law.

They explain in season one at one point what's wrong with his leg, and how it happened. It's a serious thing, which is why he uses the cane.

Yep, they're on the third season right now.

I don't really care about the medical inaccuracies, since that's not why I watch the show. I just like the characters and situations.

You can probably download the entire first and second season of House on bittorrent if you want to catch up with watch going on. I think the TB episode was near the end of the first season, or sometime in the second. You can probably also find them on DVD somewhere here. I would definately reccomend watching all the episodes. Smile Makes some things in the show make more sense, and there's a ton of character development that you need to know to understand what's going on sometimes (why characters interact the way they do, etc.)

I love House. *L* Just look at my signature.

Megs, I heard that line in the same episode and remembered I read it in someone's signature on SE but couldn't remember who's!

I know, I know...I shouldn't care about the medical inaccuracies...I can't help it, I'm a nurse. I used to fuss about the same thing with ER and Grey's Anatomy, except with GA I am older and a little wiser. Plus it's such a great show that I can overlook it. I'm sure I'll get to the same point with House.

I love Grey's Anatomy! Do they have the DVD sets for Seasons 1 & 2 of Grey's Anatomy in Shanghai?

I thought this was the last season for Stargate SG1? I had read that Sci-Fi channel isn't renewing it after this season.
But I also heard that they're hoping another station may pick it up since it is a pretty successful series.

Macpod...stop it. GA is so funny...did you see season 2? It was hysterical. And I like that the cast is bigger. I get tired of seeing the same 3 interns (or whatever they are) on House. And I've only seen a few shows!
But I agree about ER...I stopped watching years ago.

Has anyone found House on DVD here?

For me, it was not the same after George Clooney left way back then...

I cant get into House as i find the fake american accent of Hugh Laurie annoying. I like him as a person, comedian and actor and think he was fantastic in BlackAdder but in this, no.

That's hilarious. I guess his accent can't be that bad because I didn't realize he isn't actually american Smile

He was OK in Stuart Little but maybe the whole 'lost mouse thing' made me emotional and i forgot the accent.
