Post subject: Where are all the bars?

Is there a street/area with lots of bars in Shanghai? I'm sure there is but where? Thanks

MaoMing was the bar street to hang out in but local government restrictions has ruined the place. Tongren Lu is the new bar street but most people will agree its crap.

Bar hopping seems to be the order of the day.

Agree with GC.

You can also try Hengshan Road, but be warned: it is touristy, not worth the price and overall, a place to be avoided. However, if you want a mini-bar strip for a quiet night, there is Dong Ping Road, which is right off Hengshan Road... within 7 minutes of each other, Sasha's, British Bulldog, Zapata's, Blarney Stone, Eager Beaver.

Very vague question. What type of bar are you looking for? If you are after cheap drinks and a student crowd - head for Windows. If you want to relax wiht a nice Brandy Alexander - Sasha's, Face, Barbarosa. Nice wine? Senses. Happy crowd and a burger - The Beaver. From the "old country" - O'Malleys, British Bulldog, Blarney Stone. Even Oscars. Good happy hour and sports - Big Bamboo.

I am by no means an expert in the bars/pubs around town - but you could make it a full time job hopping from one to the other there are that many.

^I've just realized you are after a street. Silly Walrus. Forget Tongren. Magnlia is right - the "Hengshan" District is probably your best best for some "hopping".
