It seems like shanghaiexpat has gone to sh*t. I never thought about it until I read the magazine that condemn this as one of the worst websites for expats in China. And it's not the moderators fault but people like Chinqos slammer and Aqua idiot spreading or suggesting bullcrap. And, not being able to have a constructive argument without idiotic symbolistic garbage that some of you spit. You have the the nerve to call your messages jokes and irony. I wish that people like you would rise up under your veils and speak your mind to real people instead of acting as cowards behind the internet. stand up and be heard in reality, instead of on the internet. I kindly suggest Weasel to go take a cold shower and to read the whole thread again. He is understandably upset by his bad experience here (many people are, for various reasons, and they are not all "black"). Note that I wrote "black". Alternatively, as I said, go to Denmark for example, get all the girls and enjoy seeing how bad the native men feel about it. Oh thats too many ideas in just one post, again, sorry, just try the cold shower trick and re-read what we all wrote. BTW the best website in Shanghai is obvously "Smart" Shanghai - its all in the name - all the visiting DJs post there! |

Yeah see Frenchlover that's the problem. I'm not here for girls. That's what I keep hearing from some of you. Always.... "In Japan, Scandinavia, Greenland the girls love black men....blah blah blah" I don't care how much they love black men. I'm in China now. Just because girls love me in Germany doesn't mean I will be treated equally when it comes to finding a job there. If you read my posts thats mainly what I'm arguing. Don't get me wrong, I like girls here, and I may have a little grievance about the way I'm treated by some, but come on I can get women anywhere. This is not the point. Some of you who bring up this point seem to be thinking
"Why are you complaining it's our turn to have women now(meaning white men)" Especially American and European white men who for some odd reason feel threatned by us masculine wise
Go ahead have as many Chinese women as you want. I don't hate the Chinese women for that to each her own.
And when I am angred by some of your comments, suddendly I'm a thug, a hood rat, an ignorant black man from the ghetto. No, I'm not allowed to be angry. Only to sit and be nice in silence, while I see other people with less education than me paid four times than what I would get for the same job.
I only ask to be treated just as equally as the whites who come here. I didn't know that was a crime. I didn't know it was a crime to want a decent paycheck, or certain amount of respect when walking through the "developing" streets of Shanghai. I think every decent human being would want this.
About the magazine......
It wasn't really a magazine but a pamplet that I recieved in a goodie bag from EET English School. Ever since I have seen many of these pamplets going around. It's supposed to be a website guide for expats in China. Shanghaiexpat just got thrashed...One of the main reasons was because people on here talked about their sexcapades with local women, and insensitivity to other people's posts. Theyt blamed it on the moderaters, but I blame it on the posters who need to exercise self control. The moderaters here give us a pathway to free speech. We should not abuse it. Anyway redstarchina or something like that got really good reviews |

My point was (perhaps) something like its not that bad here and other places also have their own problems, sometimes you win or you lose, perhaps you lose more often in some areas if you are black etc. I dont think Aqua or Fuku meant to be offensive in any way. I dont think the Chinese are even aware of being racists - which in your case is not even racism, its just for the schools to run a good business considering their clients are racists and stupid - blame Confucius for that, the dirty bastard. |

The average Chinese language student thinks English is the language of white people. If a school decides to use non-white teachers (blacks, asians etc), it is more difficult for them to get business. As simple as that. Its not really racism. Etc. |

Anyway, my original point perhaps on page 1 of this too long thread, was that the Chinese teachers also get discriminated. There are billions of Chinese, potential victims of this racist English-teaching business. How many black victims? 12? 26? |

Anyway, the backward mentality that currychook is talking about is called CONFUCIANISM. The communists have been fighting against it for over half a century. The entire Chinese eductaion system was designed to counteract the backwardness of the local culture. They even had a "Cultural Revolution" that went to extremes trying to eradicate the old ways of thinking. Now is in back, as strong as ever.
The funny thing is that most likely currychook and the like will blame the commies for all this. |
