| Post subject: Scale Ship Modelers |
Are there any scale ship model enthusiasts here in the Shanghai?
Would like to meet & get together with anyone who builds remote control scale ship, submarine or sailboat models, whether it be electric, steam or sail power.
I have several 1/72 scale electric ship & subs as well as a sloop, live near Zhongshan Park & always looking to get together on the weekend with anyone who shares the same interests. |

Been thinking of building one...again.. Did scale models on my teens some 20 years back and would like to pick up the hobby again. Where do you buy your models ? or do you get them shipped here ? |

| Post subject: Shanghai Hobby Stores |
Sounds like me since I just got back into the hobby after a 30+ year break.
I've bought both locally as well as in Hong Kong.
Best place locally is the small hobby store located on the street directly behind the old XiangYang Market. Its owned & run between 2 guys - you'll find a good selection of ship & aircraft models upstairs, AFV kits on the ground floor. If you visit on the weekend, its best to do so in the afternoon since the owner of the top floor shop normally doesn't open until after 1200.
Another is the small hobby shop owned by Lion Roar located northwest of Xiang Yang Park - sorry I forget the street name. There are also 2 small shops in the jewellry mall next to Yu Garden. I can provide more details later. |

Thanks fairseas,
I'll take a look at those stores, a step away from my office...I used to frequent in XY market but never ran into this store. Must be well hidden. I'm looking for the wooden scale models from Billing Boats, Artesina Latina etc.
I know the store on Yan An lu close to the corner of Jiangsu lu but they are more for rc -models and at least last time visited didnt stock wood models..
Will keep searching |

If you are interested in wooden kits, you may find one at this small shop, but your best bet would be to order from outside & have sent in. I know the distributor for Billings here in China, but he only handles custom orders & doesn't stock any kits. Contact Mr. Feng at ArkModel: arkmodel@hotmail.com |
