| Post subject: not real hairdresser salons with girls waiting |
In many Shanghai streets, I have noticed these salons with turning lights outside, almost like hairdressing salons, where girls are waiting for clients or looking bored on dirty sofas. I felt too shy so far, even as a normal man, because I do not know what would or can happen, what money is going to be asked, for what. But I am tempted by the dark. Please share with me what you know about that to open my curious eyes, not to make me feel stupid ! |

These are legit hairdressers! What do you imagine? China is a nation with 50,000 years history, a noble land with noble people of deep moral values. You foreigners, especially the ugly Frenchmen (a poster named Empress has elaborated on that in another thread), bring corruption, sex and filth to our China. I find your post, posted two days before the anniversary date of Japan's invasion of China, particularly offensive. Please apologize before I call my friends Empress, xxx2 and "Professor" Zhang aka the shrimp. |

Well considering the number of whorehouses under various guise (barbershops, saunas, KTVs) in Shanghai, we can safely assume that a significant percentage of local men visit prostitutes. Without any doubt, there are more whorehouses in Shanghai than Starbucks. The rest of the population doesnt seem to find it disgusting (I am sure most foreigners here at least think it shows a lack of moral values). The government is not doign anything, mainly for fear closing the whorehouses would bring social unrest - the various groups that control the grassroots in this country would take this excuse to launch riots. I understand the government's unconfortable position. I think at least they should hide them, so that passerbys and kids cannot see that prostitution is everywhere in this city. |

I am just trying to understand what comes to the eyes. I am not interested in debating about country or culture, or who is right or wrong. Everywhere there is good and bad, and I respect all people. A forum is to help get answers to questions. |

What a typical Frenchman!
Anyway all you want to know is how to say "handjob" "blowjob" "full service" in Chinese and how much it would cost? |

There are prostitutes inside for sure. Just look at them. Though they usually don't admit the fact that they are. It's a typical "restroom" for chinese men. I checked out once with my male friend...mmmm...aroung 1.5 year ago...and all these lovely chinese god's creations were stupidly giggling like "No no no, we can only wash your hair" smth stupid like this. But then many of them quitely said that "hand job" is ok. If I were a man I wouldn't even let them touch my hand.... too dirty, really. |

Why is it morally worng/disgusting?
Yes these are whorehouses, but they are legally sanctioned whorehouse, run by the army (as are most of the saunas and KTV bars). They provide employment for these girls and an outlet for men (who aren't that great looking to start with if we're all honest) and ensures that social unrest is kept to a minimum. Some people may view this sort of thing as wrong, but it happens all over the world.
If you don't like seeing it, then don't live here, it's as simple as that. Let people get on with there own lives and stop judging.
I don't see any moral objections to the "English teachers" who ply their trade in Shanghai, and all over China, who have no qualifications, or experience, but have no problems passing themselves off as real teachers. (I am not talking about those of you whom are qualified and experienced teachers)
Cheers! |

Guess going there is a pretty dangerous affair. I read something about establishments in Korea where they later abused their guest (hidden cameras).
One thought on that. The wording MORAL makes me always thinking! Who defines moral? The society under the influence of the church? I am experience to another kind of “prostitution” in this as well as Western countries, prostitution must not be only limited to “red light biz”. What bothers me more, are the young kiddies (just 1 going hand in hand with a wealthy 70y foreigner. Very frankly, who is more honest?
To a certain degree I admire (shame on me) the kind of openness it is handled here, even it is officially not allowed. In my neighborhood are these establishments in direct neighborhood of Muslim restaurants, schools and I even saw some ladies sitting with elders and children in front of the shops.
Nobody need this shops, everybody is disgusted, nobody goes there… Why a heck is than entire Asia full of this shops?
I personally believe that a quarter of all this young ladies caught a (wealthy) foreigners are originated from this or similar biz. |

I just saw one yesterday close to my apartment. pink lights inside and disguised as a barbershop. The girls were all really dressed up and they were GORGEOUS! sitting in line on a couch and looking like dolls. It was obvious that it was a small brothel!
Never seen such thing!!! Next time Im going to take a photo, to show my friends back home! hahahahahaha |
