Cross Roads is a Singaporean Joint. They have three branches (maybe more but i have been to these three). One is in Raffle City's Food court on 5th Floor another in Parkson's (Hua Hai lu / Shanxi nan Lu) on 4th floor and the third one is in food court of Gubei Carrefour.

>>Ajisen Ramen<< The menu till about 6 months back used to be good but in the new menu so far i have not discovered anything to my taste. Infact most of the things that i used to like at this place have been removed from their new menu.

I like the beef curry noodles at Ajisen, but the service in Raffles Ajisen is crap. Maybe because it's so busy.

Thanks for the other recommendations.

Has anyone tried that little Korean place in the basement. It's pretty cheap and nice too.

think its mostly for local eateries

Interesting about Ajisen. I wasn't aware of the menu changes. And you're right about the service. And there's always a wait for a table too.

There's this restaurant called Charme on the 6th floor which serves pretty good Chinese food (they do have western food like pasta in their menu as well but I've not tried it). It's always crowded during weekends with a long queue, though.

They have a set lunch menu, but they're very sneaky about it. When I sat down they only gave me the a la carte menu. They begrudgingly brought me the set lunch menu when I asked for it.

Charme actually has an interesting pizza, much better than anything the oily papa john's in the basement would serve (and they dont give fapiao below 10 rmb, as per their policy - they even dare to tell you that, the idiots).

Charme belongs to the same person who owns Xin Wang. You guys should try their mango pudding which is the best pudding EVER.

lalaabc321, are you serious?? Why would you need fapiao for the ice-cream? Isn't it something like RMB2.50?

i've been told that fa piao is for tax reasons. If you do not take the fa piao, the restaurant doesn't have to 'claim' your bill, it can go straight into their pockets. if you take the fa piao, then they have to put the amount you spent, into their 'books', which means it has to be recorded. The reason they have the little scratch things is to encourage people to ask for fa piao, so that the businesses are forced to record their earnings accurately

Yes, but not sure how. I think you can claim a certain amount of fa piao for expenses...anyone know more about this?

Not too sure. But during our first month here, we were covered for expenses like meals and laundry from the company. So we just kept all our fapiaos and submitted them to claim for our meals. You should have seen the stack of fapiaos we had after just one month!
