One more thing, i found my download speed is quite slow. I know it is in the thread but i could not relate to me issue exactly.
My download speed is typically less than 2 kb/s, sometimes up to 10 (not usualy higher). The upload speed on he other hand is between 5 and 30. I am on wi-fi, at 54 Mb/s on what seems a good connection. |

I downloaded VLC media player which works quite well for playing torrents torrents. For download speed i had the same issue download at home and office was crap around 10kbs. I did a search on tube for videos for uTorrent 1.8.1 increase speed, there are quite a step by step ones to change the default settings. after changing the settings my my download rate goes pretty well now depending on seeds. cant remember which one i used but try a few and see which gives best results, |

You need to make sure the incoming port is forwarded in your router/firewall or that UPNP is working correctly. Basically if you are not getting the green tick in UTorrent, you are not connectable and your speeds will suffer. Even if you are connectable speeds depend on the number of seeds. I get good bandwidth on new well seeded torrents - 200k/s on Sunday downloading Saturday night's Match of the Day for example. Older ones maybe very slow. |

Huh?
Oh yeah I remember seeing that somewhere. I will check google or you tube for step by step instructions.

Correct I have the yellow triangle of DEATH crawl, not the green thingy.

Well I am now seing a green checkmark (most of the times), sometimes bounces back to the yellow triangle. My current port is 0:auto , quite sure it is NOT port forwarded properly.
My router is a chinese brand. IP-COM, doesn't even show up on a google search
Anyway my download speed has already improved quite a bit, so thanks guys |

Yep no idea about that router but sounds like you've made some progress anyway. |

I'm familiar using torrents, can find some pretty good stuff (English/American stuff).
Does anyone know torrents for Chinese movies and music? |

My problem is that every good website uses Pirate Bay as a tracker, I used to have about 50 trackers that I would add to every Torrent and I would connect, but I formatted my computer and forgot my list of trackers... Any help out there? |

I've been using uTorrent in Windows and just installed Ubuntu 9.04 dual booting with my Windows, I have already 1 torrent downloaded over 50% with uTorrent in Windows, and just wondering if I can switch to Ubuntu and continue the download from there without damaging the already downloaded files (it took me over 10 days to get to 50%!!!!!)
ps:
1) yeah, I've thought of finishing the download first in Windows, but the file is big (over 24G, it's a SG1 series) and way toooooooo slow <2kB!!! No it's not configuration issue I think, cause sometimes I got 150K.
2) since Linux does not have uToreent, so I have to use a different apps, does it matter type of apps used for BT download? assuming I'm using the same torrent file? I think the one BT installed by default in Ubuntu is Transmission, I can't be sure. Is there any other light weight BT apps similar to uTorrent?
Thanks for your comment

Torrents are free but not always reliable. I rely heavily on something like R*idshare which does incur a small cost but at least I can get almost anything I want without having to rely on seeders. There are some forums with a huge collection of Chinese movies but in Rshare.

I'm a member of a few private trackers, after a few seconds they typically max out my download speed (900kb/s down [UK]). Every torrent is full of seeders, only leechers on the newer titles. To stay as a member, you have to keep your upload rates >1.0.
I don't get many invites, but if there are any decent seeders here, then I'll be happy to give out some memberships.
Anyone interested? |

Lol. I can send you link. But you'll need to register. Or I can send you .torrent file, but you should promise that you'll seed it till 1.00 ratio.

Ok, send it to your PM. Also I think speed now won't be as high because there now a lot of leechers, but it would be higher then 150Kb/s anyway.
