Post subject: Achilles tendon injury and recovery

I managed to fall down a telephone cable access whiole I was on holiday in Aus. Stone cold sober as well.

The worst part id that I completely ruptured the achilles in my right leg. I had an operation in Perth to rejoin the two ends/bits/whatever and subject to a medical revue this Wednesday I will be free to fly back to China.

I have a special type of non plaster cast on which can be adjusted for foot angle as the injury recovers. I have to use the cast for at least 6-8 weeks.

I will be carrying a letter of referal from the surgeon who performed the op' but I now need to find out if there is a proper orthropedic surgeon in Shanghai to help with the recovery. Any ideas anyone?

Sorry to hear about your fall, shanghaiceltic, it sounds so painful!

Dr. Zhang, the Orthopedist at World Link's Shanghai Centre treats patients with torn achilles tendons. If you'd like more information about him you can call the 24-hour Healthline at (86 21) 6445 5999, or you can send an email with the details of your condition to services@worldlink-shanghai.com.

Hoping your ankle feels better soon!

Dear ShanghaiCeltic

I work for a medical centre that specialises in post operative rehabilitation. We also have an excellent full time Orthopaedic specialist on our staff. Correct rehabilitiation is very important after surgery to ensure mobility of the area as soon as possible. If you would like to speak to our doctor and or one of our UK physiotherapsits please let me know. The number is 62798920.
