| Post subject: Private Universities/Colleges in China |
Does anyone know where I can find a listing of all the private universities/colleges in China. I am looking for any private school (chinese) which has any sort of post-secondary (after high school) degree. If you know of such a list (or want to take a quick look yourself) please let me know as I had trouble finding such information. Thanks. |

It does not matter if the list is in English or Chinese. |

I've no idea why you wanna further your education in a Chinese private college. They suck! It's not in the States where private universities enjoy a high reputation! |

Hey I thought my partners were pretty Ok, Qianjin College,
a lot of our students go of to harvard and other reputable universities in America and Germany,
my main reason for partnering with them.
Microsoft's China CEO and now Shanda Interactive Tang was with us and left to harvard,
same here with the ex-CEO of Ebay China.
ShenDa is also quite Famous here. Many famous Politicians came from there.
I don't actually know any other Private Universities here.
I heard about Websters, Shanghai Europe International and Raffles. |

Tang Jun graduated in China from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications which is not, by the way, a private university. He then went on to do graduate work in Japan and the U.S.
SHBoor is correct. Private universities in China have a rotten reputation and most, if not all, offer a substandard education. |

ah dude, i got to eat with the guy, he studied english and qianjin,
but I'm sure you know better.
He did go to japan, as well as the US though (maybe it wasn't harvard, but it was some ivy league school)
I've got a link, sorry didn't find anything as interesting and informative about tang jun in english.

the guy is a legend here. Maybe he comes back to microsoft after Shanda has been weakening?
I don't want to ridicule you, just pointing out I didn't make this up,
I'd love to ask where you studied and gained your degree, but I won't don't worry.
Anyways, point is, education is experience, where you getting that is where you're getting ahead in life. |

But he received his B.S. degree from Beijing Post and Telecommunications University in Beijing. Directly after that he went to Japan and then the USA to study. That's what he told Microsoft when he worked for them and then put on his CV that was posted on Microsoft's website. The point is, he didn't graduate from a private Chinese university.
There are two kinds of private universities in China; one is 100% locally owned and operated and the other is a kind of educational JV in cooperation with a foreign university. Everybody knows in China that attending any kind of a private university in China is only a very last resort. Anybody who scores well enough on the College Entrance Examination will choose a public university over a private university hands down.
Also, most of the better multi-national companies will not hire anybody who has graduated from a private university in China. HR policy at P&G, Exxon-Mobile, Shell, BP, BT and many others is to never hire for career-track management positions those who have not graduated from a public university; they don't even call them in for the initial screening process.
I am not, saying, however, that people who attend private Chinese universities are stupid or unqualified. I am just saying that private universities are viewed as having a bad reputation. Also, the degree issued by a private university is not recognized even by the government as meeting the same level as that of a public university. |

actually our degrees are issued at the government, it's the same as the one issued at fudan, they're all issued through the government.
It's not the same of course but since it's beeing issued by the government itself I doubt that it's not recognized.
try a public university in the US and then look for a decent job.
anyways, opinions differ, I can leave it at that. |
