Post subject: Mongolian BBQ

Does anyone know of any good Mongolian BBQ restaurants in Shanghai? Went to one in Ulan Bataar and loved it. Looking for similar here.

Didn't there used to be a Ploughman's Inn (or maybe a Pig and Whistle) from Taiwan somewhere around Hengshan Rd? I think of an exact location though so maybe it has disappeared or was never there in the first place.

If it exists they do a slightly weird combination of 'English' pub and 'Mongolian' BBQ buffet. People seem to like it. Don't know if it is the same as in Ulan Baator. When I had it in Taipei it was the same as Mongolian BBQ in New Zealand - you pile as much food into a bowl as you can, pass it a guy who slaps it on a hotplate, and then watch in horror as your meal shrivels away to nothing in just 30 seconds. Luckily you get to go back as many times as you like.

Have you tried the Little Sheep or Xiao Fei Yang restaurants, they are Mongolian style Hot Pot, not BBQ but still really good. There's one on Jin Yang Rd.

There is a Mongolian BBQ restaurant in No.288 Wulumuqi lu near Jianguoxi lu called Shanghai Liyuan Mongolian BBQ restaurant. Some of my friends mentioned it before.

021-64729595 You can call this number to get some information but I am not sure the reception speaks English.

I prefer Korea BBQ.
