we chinese have the most lovely Pandas in world.
We chinese have the most biggest Goldfields in world.
we chinese have the most greatful & ancient Calligraphy and Paintings in world.
we chinese have the most beautiful landscapes in world.
we chinese had created the first compass, print skills, seismography (to test the earthquake), gunpowder in world. |
I'm laughing so hard. Five thousand years of history means diddly-squat when a vast chunk of the population acts as if they have just climbed down from a tree. Jade is nothing special and as for antique pleasures I have no idea but if the contents of museums in China is anything to go by, it's all crap. Pandas are lovely, granted, but they are better looked after in overseas zoos than the small flith encrusted cages they are held in in Chinese zoos. You might have gold but you can't build mines. Your calligraphy and paintings are nothing compared to Europe's. Landscape! You have to be kidding. The entire country is covered in pollution and is very ugly. As for your inventions, what have you invented recently? What is the great Chinese invention of the 20th Century, or even the 19th? Apart from a great ability to copy everything.
These things you use to describe your patriotism are so superficial, so material and represent nothing about yourself. Tell us why you are really proud.
Finally you are not a citizen. Thanks to your corrupt and evil government, nobody in China enjoys the status of a citizen. You are just people. |

Also this myth about 5,000 yearsof history..... complete bollocks.
China hasn't been one country for that long. It was a series of warlord run fiefdoms.
Maybe the Chinese should compare themselves to the Egyptions or the Romans or Italians..... who have done far more in history. |

we should just talk about the fact!
the fact is: not all chinese are proud to be chinese and not all chinese are not proud to be chinese.
as to the recent poll and the result mentioned above, they are quite doubtful, considering the realities of china's 1.3 bn population, various diversities, .......
the same hold true to whatever the nation:
not all americans are proud to be americans
not all brits are proud to be brits
not all french are proud to be french
not all .........are proud to be ..........
in this world there are always some people who are doing some polls to spread some topics and further to stir up some issues and make some other people get stirred up, which is the lives of the world people today

What the **** Italians done? The only thing people know them for are putting tomatoes on everything, "Itsa me Mario", and for being the world's biggest importer of grease, god knows how much they use in their hair. |

Yes I was going to say it was redundant. But here's the kicker, the Egyptians and Roman civilizations crumbled. |

No, I don't agree with you, Mr. Kimchi.
I think that there's nothing wrong with nationalism nor patriotism both on appropriate degree, but a overplayed or misguided patriotism can certainly lead to arrogance and aggression upon else nations. Every country has nationalism in differebt forms. No exception in the States. |

A number of Chinese proud to be a Chinese emotionally, culturally not politically.
It's due to the legacy of old federal mindset that control the country for so long: “all land of the country belongs to the king, and all people on this lands belongs to the king", by that thought, the king has absolute control over his people, but no control over people belong to other regime, that justifies why the king could freely sacrifice benefits of his people to pacify other regimes and their people, as such treatment would gain him good reputation or avoid conflicts with stronger nations as long as his own people won't bounce back by the unfairness. |

I see some senses in your writing. I somethimes feel in the same way as you do. To me, I think Shanghai is much much better than most places abroad. Sometimes I think those Chinese who gave up their Chinese nationality just did not know there is a city called "Shanghai" in China. And they are regreting now. Someone who immigrated to the US illegally many years ago told me that he wants to immigrate to China now.

To all the chinese ppl here: don't give me angry look, i'm telling the truth though. i believe some of them also feel the same way. |

Agree!! Polls suck!
We were good, and a poll jumped in, and we start arguing...for no result.
We are all proud of ourselves, that's it.

I thought about this in the context of Second Life (18 months ago when it was hip for five minutes). The overwhelming majority of Chinese players I met gave themselves a Caucasian appearance... |

They capitulated after waiting for the Allies to remove the Germans from their presense.
Now China did not capitulate but with it's population much greater than Japans by any doubt during WW2 had to wait for the Aliies to clear out the nips as well.
But usually the Chinese have their own army or somebody elses army in control.
The Chinese nowadyas, theys doing all right. |

I read in a recent poll that something like 67 percent of Chinese in China claim that they wished they were something besides Chinese.
May I ask why?
I am not in China yet so I would like to know whats so bad about it that their own people would be ashamed?
I understand why I would want to be affiliated with something other than American thanks to Daddy Bush but why are Chinese ashamed?
Ciao!! |

Now there's a great sample size. I'm sure those 2 guys are indicative of the entire population.

I think some people talk without knowing what they are saying. Chinese people are very proud to be Chinese.
I think people who don't like China or Chinese people should not stay in China. |
