Post subject: Where to find Breast Pump?

With the power difference from the US to here, my wife did not bring the breast pump but now it looks like we will need to use it so that i can help with feedings. Anyone know where we can find them for sale? or anyone have one that no longer uses it?

Can't believe I am replying to this thread. Sport and nightlife used to be my thing.

Grand Gateway in Xujiahui has them, but depending where you live you may be able to find them somewhere else.

The best breast pump is the Medela one. It's yellow and costs approx 800 rmb. Don't bother with the Pigeon brand. Available from Les Enphants stores, many locations in shanghai.

The one I had took forever to suck anything out! The medela one sucks and releases the same way baby does. With the pigeon you have to release the suction yourself. That hurt.

Thats ok, I cant believe i am POSTINg such a question, I mean maybe without the word "pump" Wink

But seriousl, thanks for the feedback. Hoping to find something close by ZhongShan park as we are trying not to take baby out TOO much (err, except a party in his honour last night with 40 guests that is Wink )

Or maybe will head over to the brilliance west mall and take a look... seems lots of baby/family friendly shops there too...

So I take it this is a powered pump sandgroper? or a manual one?

For long term pumping, you might consider shipping a Medela Pump In Style from the US. I used one a few times a day for a year with just a power converter from Carrefour with no issues. (I did have to replace the power converter once, when it broke.)

The Medela mini-electric is what I have seen on sale here, and it is not as good as the Pump in Style. Bumps to babes in Hong Kong sells the Pump in Style, but at several times the price you get in the US.

For occasional pumping, the Avent Isis manual pump works just fine after a little practice. It is on sale most places or online at aiyingshi.com.

Good news is that the 'Pump in Style' is now available in Shanghai through a local Medela rep. PM me and I'll pass along her contact info. The prices are comprable to the US.
