Yongfoo Elite Facilities:
Main Building:
The main dining room combines mahogany furniture with art deco items, ancient Chinese paintings and antiques from old Shanghai and Europe, dating back from 60 years to 600 years old. The Classic Shanghai gourmet dishes, the hallmark of Yongfoo Elite, the complements a journey back to Shanghai's nostalgic opulence. Indoor and outdoor dining is available in the 3-story Manor, the patio and the half-acre garden.
Mission Bars:
Yongfoo Elite has three different bar areas, each with its own personality. The main building's Crystal Bar is named for its brilliant Roman columns carved from solid natural crystal. Mission Bar reveals the luxury of a metropolis. The wooden window frames are of the southern Chinese style, yet the inlaid deep blue glass adds a western accent. The various dark-wood chairs are unified by purple cloth covers, giving the room a tint of violet. Wine and martinis are the perfect accompaniment to an evening at Mission Bar, modern, graceful and leisurely.
Star Shine Nook: (Cigar Bar for member only)
The place for an intimate cocktail party with its soft lights and relaxed jazz music. It is filled with classical furniture from Europe and China such as imported vintage Gucci sofas. It is a wonderful place for wine and cigars. An antique wooden canopy bed takes up a corner of the room; two or three friends can sit inside the bed turning it into a miniature, intimate private room.
Liu Yi Tang:
The Chinese characters “the Liu Yi” on the plaque hanging in the arch refer to the classic arts of ancient China: rites, music, archery, horseback riding, writing and arithmetic, this was handwritten by Yang YI. This background sets the stage for open-air performances of live music and songs of Chinese opera; the performers come from some of the mot celebrated troupes in China. The wooden archway over the stage is a treasured antique, with intricate carving s of flowers, birds, fish insects and people; many stories come to life in the woodwork. The back of the corridor is a gold-leafed wall with Victorian style leaf and vine patterns. Further down the corridor is a t¡betan wall hand-painted in colorful stripes. This diversity of unrelated elements creates contrasts and tensions in the design.
The Garden:
The garden was designed in terms of Chinese Funshui, the harmony with nature, the philosophy is to take good care of the garden without being too deliberate in design, the trees have spirits, give them space and they will grow as time passes, water are shallow and transparent, they are the home of goldfish. There are two large magnolia trees in the garden, round lanterns like full moons, hang on the ancient pines outside the Star Shine Nook with soft and warm light. The Pharmacist Buddha sits peacefully in a corner of the garden blessing those here with health and well-being.

Yongfoo Elite owner and designer: Mr. Wang Xing Zheng
l The president of Shanghai Xianqiangfang Corporation Ltd & Yongfoo Elite.
l Asian American, born in Shanghai.
l The pioneer fashion designer of China, designing mainly for males.
l He started to do interior design since 1994 and his first masterpiece at 1996---Xianqiangfang Restaurant---made its name in Shanghai rather quickly due to its simple and unsophisticated decoration and profound art flavor.
l The Door, the restaurant and music bar opened in 2001 could be regarded as the milestone of Mr. Wang's art works.
l In the same year, Mr. Wang planned to set up the high-class club---the Yongfoo Elite in the old site of the British Consulate Office. Grand opening on March, 2004.
l Mr. Wang is addicted to collecting art works and antiques throughout the world. He has traveled across Europe, America and numerous cities and towns in China, inspecting the local conditions and customs. With the experience around 20 years, Mr. Wang has his own standard in collecting antiques. Fond of sharing his design and collections with his bosom friends, he insists that The Door and the Yongfoo Elite are gifts to people who have the same hobby. |
