Post subject: Childrens Birthday Parties

Please can anyone suggest venues for birthday parties? I see the Aquarium is advertising that they do these - anyone been to one/organised one through them?
We moved here 6 months ago from Thailand and our 4 and 6 year old sons really miss the great indoor playgrounds that we had there. Any suggestions of places to take the kids when it's too cold to be outside?
Thanks!

I went to an Aquarium party several years ago and it seemed like the kids had fun.

Central Residences rents out their big indoor Fundazzle with party room area. Tel. 5240-6298

New indoor playground called Bookee's Funland near Gudai Rd. in Minhang District (I don't have the address or phone handy, but can get it) is also good. It's right next to Contemporary Villas at 1801 (?) Gudai Rd.

The new Lucky Greens miniature golf course in the Cloud 9 Shopping Mall can do parties (www.luckygreeens.com). The course isn't that exciting, but for little kids can be fun.

I know you have boys, but for those looking for a party for little girls, a store called "Girl Things" does fun makeover/dress-up parties at their store in Hong Qiao at the Brilliance West Mall (and you can bring the girls upstairs to Moon River Diner to eat afterwards), or they can come to your home/clubhouse to host the party. It's also a great place to buy unique, hard-to-find, birthday presents for girls. Tel: 5217-1636; for English: 135 6475 8334

There's a Teddy Bear Factory and restaurant at Times Square Mall in Pudong that does parties.

Good Luck!

We did our kid's party at O'Malley's. Kids had lots of fun, and the price was pretty reasonable. They have a great playground. It will be better when it's not so cold outside, but it was a good time.

I would recommend Moon River Diner as they are very kid friendly....also if you speak to Greg he can make you a real birthday cake!!! If you look at the website that was posted above you can see all the wonderful kinds of cakes he can make......also the food is very good!!!

If I ever have children that is where I would take them.....

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. We saw a birthday party at Moon River in Brilliance Mall the other weekend and it looked good - they had a magician. I had heard that the 'Girl Things' place was great for little girls' parties.
Please TXMOM could you give me the address and phone number for the new playground you mentioned?
Cheers

Sure brossies - it's Bookee Funland, 1460 Shuiqing Rd., 2nd Floor, Area B. It's near Gu Dai Rd. (very close to Contemporary Spirit Villas) and is inside Shanghai HK Macau Shopping Mall.
Telephone is 5416-8042. Website is www.bookeefunland.com. I'm having a party there next Saturday for my kids, so hopefully it will be a good party place!

I would suggest Lucky Greens mini-golf for your kids birthday party.

Thanks for the suggestions.
How was the party at Bookee's Funland TXMOM? I'd be interested to know what you thought.
Cheers

It went well! I hosted the party myself, made my own cakes and favor bags, and planned/ran my own activities, so didn't buy their full party package with hostess services, birthday cake, decorations, party favor bags, etc. We just paid them for the use of the room, playtime, and bought some food there for lunch.

Their food is OK (pizza, chicken wings, french fries, etc.), but not great. They have limited drinks for kids (sodes and hot chocolate - no water or juice) so we brought our own water and juice and they didn't say anything.

Overall, the kids seemed to have a great time and it's a much better environment than the similar (though larger and less expensive) Fundazzle at Zhongshan Park, where we've also attended parties.

I just remembered another good venue for boy birthdays, though it's a bit out of the way. There's a Planet Laser Tag at Hong Kou Stadium where I also hosted a birthday party a couple of years ago.

Good luck and let us know where you end up having your party and how it goes!
