You need to go to the Shanghai Notary Office at 660 Fengyang Lu (Just behind 580 Nanjing Lu). If you don't speak/read Chinese you will need to take an interpreter. The police clearance form costs RMB150, and normally takes 1 week before you can collect it. From what I can remember, you will need to complete two forms. One of them, presuming you are working here, your company needs to stamp with their chop and give info such as when you arrived, your job position etc. You will need copies of your initial entry visa into China, a copy of your current Z visa, and your brown employment booklet. The 2nd form will ask why you need the police clearance check, for this you should state immigration/visa reasons, and in the notes section at the bottom of the form, make sure you state you need the police clearance document in both Chinese and English and you need two copies, one for your own records and one to send to NZ. The police check document should state that 'you - born on xx/xx/xx, had no record of criminal sanctions during your residence in China from xxxx - present date.' The website for the Notary office is - www.sh-notary.com Telephone - 62150336. The office is open from 8.30 - 6pm. |

Yes I am sure!
Is the HR guy telling you they don't deal with it? or is the Notary Office telling him this? If its the Notary office, then ignore them and insist they do their job and give you your Police Clearance form. Go to a different person in the Notary office if needs be, you'll be surprised how one person can tell you NO yet another person says YES. Once you have found the right person and they accept your cash, it takes 5 days to get the document back. Whatever you do, if the Notary Office insists you get the document from your local PSB, don't fall for it. Its a waste of time. Good luck. |
