| Post subject: Question about entering Shanghai |
Hi,
I am from Singapore and will be traveling to shanghai in soon. I plan on entering with the automatic visa that is allowed to singaporeans to stay in china for 15 days and during that period change it to an F visa with the invitation letter which will be provided to me by a local company there.
I do intend to stay in shanghai for more than 6 months eventually without leaving China.
My question is if I get a one way trip ticket and enter the Shanghai at Pudong Airport with an automatic 15 day L visa, I will not have the invitation letter at that point to prove that i will be extending my visa later.
1. would that cause me problems at the immigration?
2. if i had the business invitation letter with me, would that help?
3. or would i have to buy a round ticket even if the return date on the ticket will be a year later?
I had a friend who tried to enter Indonesia that way once, and was forced to purchase a return ticket at the airport counter before the immigration officers allowed him entry into the country.
thx in advance for any answers. |

why can't you just wait until you get the invitation letter?
it is possible that they may hang you up on the one-way ticket, but if so, buy a full fare refundable ticket by credit card and just return it after. I have even heard of people WITH valid visa's that have run into this so... |
