SPECIAL EVENTS FOR MARCH 2007 @ 4 LIVE Music Venue (8 Jianguo zhong lu @ Chongqing lu, Shanghai) --

March 2 (Friday) -- "Antidote Live" ... The legendary Antidote DJ team hosts an evening of live electronic music from IGO. Support by Antidote DJs B6, MHP, Ozone, Boya, Fish. 30 RMB/door. Free beer happy hour, 9pm-10pm.

March 3 (Saturday) -- Denmark Nu-Jazz Festival... Live jazz and nu-jazz from Denmark's finest. 10pm. 100 RMB/door.

March 9 (Friday) -- Sound Fragment... Beijing indie rock band. 50 RMB/door. 9pm. Support/opening band Banana Monkey.

March 10 (Saturday) -- JR Jazz Band Concert... 80 RMB/door. 10pm.

March 13 (Tuesday) -- Ninths... Alternative/Indie band from Norway. 30 RMB/door. 9pm. Check the songs, nice production, fans of Seattle grunge or Radiohead should enjoy. http://www.myspace.com/ninthmusic

March 16 (Friday) -- Miserable Faith... Hard rock band from Beijing. 50 RMB/door. 10pm.

March 17 (Saturday) -- Ding Party... Real techno like Shanghai has never heard before -- from Detroit classics to Berlin futurism -- with 3 of Asia's finest techno turntablists. DJs @allen [Taiwan], Mickey [Beijing/Yen crew] and our hometown hero Ben Huang. Expect a night of fierce beats and big grooves! 50 RMB/door. Bacardi Rum bottles 350 RMB all night.

March 18 (SUNDAY ** Day Time Show **) -- Punk For Life! 5 local rock and punk bands play this Sunday afternoon show. Bands include Defy [Wuhan], Angry Jerks [Nanjing] and 3 other bands from Shanghai. 2pm start. 30 RMB / door. 15 RMB Tsingtao.

March 23 (Friday) -- "I Love EU" ... 6 up-and-coming EU electronic artists and DJs in a mini music festival, from Italy, Poland, France, Sweden, Germany, Belgium. Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the European Union! 80 RMB/door. 9pm start.

March 24 (Saturday) -- Bananas!.. The popular Bananas party returns starring DJ Kamikaze, Mr. Stokes, and El Nino. Sure to be a wild night with eclectic music -- hip hop, Brazilian funk, classic pop, rock n roll, disco breaks, and plenty of surprises. 20 RMB for Banana-Rum Punch. Free bananas. 30 RMB/door. 10pm-late.

March 31 (Saturday) -- The Subs... Beijing's most energetic post-punk band returns to Shanghai. Support band to be announced later. 50 RMB/door. 9pm.

WEEKLY EVENTS --
Dub Jam. Every WEDNESDAY at 10pm. Live reggae dub jam band with Zooma, MC Didje, DJ Deville, and special guests each week. Free entry.

So Much Soul. Every THURSDAY night at 10pm-late. Live hip hop, DJs playing soul, funk, breaks, reggae, r&b, and abstract hip hop. The Lab DJ crew including V-Nutz, L-J, Shige, Fortune, HBD, Mr. Tsang, Mr. Stokes, Deville, and weekly guests. 30 RMB at door with one drink. The only real/underground hip hop party in Shanghai !!

Saw Orange at the ENO store today. They played a short set. They were awesome and a lot of fun.

Friday, March 30, 2007. 9pm start.

The Shotgun She-ras (from Hong Kong) will grace the stage at 4 Live with their classic country-western sound. Fans of Dolly Parton and Lorretta Lynn, these 4 girls don't have time for none of that cheesy new country music -- they got real ol' country souls. Definately something Shanghai has never seen or heard before... Yee-hah!

The Subs -- Beijing's most energetic post-punk band returns to Shanghai for a night of garage rock and punk madness. The Subs are veteran favorites of the Beijing punk scene and always draw a large, diverse crowd. Led by the charismatic and fun-loving female vocalist Kang Mao, who also runs the October Party Records label.

in case you've never seen subs before, something to look for and tell friends about at home: kang mao's english name, derived from the fact her chinese name is a homonym for cat, is kitty. her and wu hao, the guitarist with the afro, are together. all of this helps explain the tattoo on his wrist, which reads: i love kitty.
