Post subject: Costs of living

Hello all,

I did a brief search and could not find the answers.

What do the following cost in RMB per month on average in SH?

1. Gym membership
2. Cell phone (average plan ?)
3. Basic groceries for a week worth of meals at home.
4. Rapid Transit pass

Cheers.

2. domestic call 120RMB/month
3. for a couple, 1,000RMB is needed
4. 20-30RMB once

You can rent everywhere, depends on where you want to live!

1000 for groceries for a week? Where do you eat gold? If you are willing to cook for yourself and eat local food then its much much cheaper! I just bought food to cook tonight's supper and tomorrows lunch and I payed 14 RMB -- enough food for two people. Lots of different types of mushrooms, qincai (like a small cabbage), garlic, niangao, bean spouts, cucumber and some pork. Yesterday for lunch and supper was similar.
