| Post subject: Relocating with our cat |
Hi all-
My husband and I will be relocating to Shanghai at the end of this summer. We are bringing our cat with us and I was wondering if anyone had the current specifics/rules on bringing a cat to Shanghai. Does he need a microchip ID implanted? Also is there a quarantine period? If so, can it be at our home? Or is it at a facility?
I have looked for all of this info online and have gotten conflicting information. Any input would be much appreciated!
Thank you! |

They're thinking about about having all new pets here chipped, so it might be a good idea to have that done once and for all. You should also have a full checkup of your cat just in case the immigration officer has a bad day. Quarantine is at home but usually you bring the cat as hand luggage and they don't normally check them. |

My wife and I are in the same situation ... moving to Shanghai in May and she wants to bring her 2 cats. As best we can understand, we need to have a recent health check, rabies vaccination and possibly a microchip (which they both have). We also understand that there will be a mandatory 7 day quarantine period in Shanghai (at some new facility). We hope to find out more soon! |

the info is older, but you can also contact them for updated procedures. unfortunately, those change all the time...
be sure that your arrival does not fall during or on any holidays... i know two people who had nightmere experiences with that. |
