Hello to all here!
I'm a singaporean mummy to 2 boys and will be arriving in SH end Aug / early Sept (hopefully late enuf to avoid the scorching summer!). Very glad to know many s'poreans / malaysians here!
If you meet up for food, pls count me in as I am already having withdrawal symptoms just thinking of all the prata and mee kia and hor fun I'll be missing very soon. And yes, I have a weakness for bak chang and kaya toast (my fav are CMC and Ya Kun). I suppose kaya is a rarity in SH and that's enuf to make me.... (weep)... make my own someday.
If you meet up for playgroups, count me in too as I have a tiny tot at 15 mths and will enjoy mummies and babies dates.
Also, am looking out for dance & calligraphy class for myself, do share if you know of any!
Oh yes, I'll be staying at Puxi, though not the HQ/GB area. I think it's the Xuhui area.... anyone there also?
Thanks and look fwd to meeting up more of you soon! |

allegro: Hi hi ... welcome to this thread. Yes, you should've avoided the really hot period by the time you are here. How old are your boys? You having withdrawal symptoms even when you're back in Singapore??? Good luck to you when you are here man! Hhahaha. Please bring kaya over!!! It's a rare commodity here. I mean, they do sell it here, but errrrrrm, I've always found them dubious looking. I think LeslieAngel mentioned before that she stays in XuHui area. But XuHui's not too far from Hong Qiao ... we can always still meet up. |

Thanks cacky!
My boys are 5+ and 1+. Yes am trying to bring as much kaya as expiry dates allow.... my fren even advised me to bring my own fav brand of coffee over, just to feel less homesick haha. During my last trip, even the bak chang there was quite different... pillow type? Didn't try it.
By the way can anyone tell me if MILO is available in SH??? The last time I didn't see any! My list of things-to-bring-over is turning into a logistical nightmare! |

I heard the Milo here tastes bad! So I've always brought it from Singapore (the Australian recipe is the best). |
