I'm into the ang moh retro and I got into this for 3yrs straight. All the rock 'n roll plus disco songs..everyday! |
Actually, I quite like ang moh retro too. Just that, I find the crowd in Zouk, especially Velvet, too "ang moh class" (though my ang moh language is no less inferior).
Not only ceena, can also call me Ah Beng! |
Hahahaha....Ah Beng Ah Seng~~

We all have our 'class' here...anytime, anywhere, anyhow!

Hi, quite sometimes didn't log in....…everything getting better & better ya…
By the way, anyone here joined the Malaysian Association in People's Republic of China (MAPROC)? Any advice?
& I knew they are organising a National Day dinner called “Celebrating Malaysia's 50 years of Nationhood and Visit Malaysia 2007” at Shangri-La Hotel Pudong on Saturday SEPTEMBER 1, 2007. Anybody going?? |
Well, some Malaysians would be in the MAPROC organization.
You can check http://www.maproc.org/ for more info about them.
Plus you can get more details of the pricing and dress code for the Merdeka celebrations.
I might be going with some friends! |

hello all!
We're finally in SH! Minus the kaya though.... too much excess baggage as it is.
I am staying at the French Concession. Anyone in this area too?
Been doing some shopping at Carrefour and Parkson, realised that some stuff are surprisingly not as cheap as I expected. Eg. toilet paper and box tissue are pricier, and CIF and Nestle condensed milk are double the price here (shucks shd've shipped my own milkmaid) Also can't find those sundry shops like in singapore, where u can get hangers, mops, pails, magic mop/wipes, tissues? Or have I been looking at the wrong places? Anyone can share? |

lolarose: Yah lor ... but can you imagine it was even hotter before this???!!! So you still somewhat escaped lah.
allegro: Welcome to Shanghai. French Concession area ... gorgeous. Brought my friends from Singapore around this area recently. They loved it. Well yeah, if you go shopping in Parkson, there are definitely stuff that will be more expensive. Especially for those that are not manufactured here and imported from Malaysia or Singapore.
Hangers, mops, pails etc can be found in most supermarkets like Carrefour or Parksons. You should be able to find them there. Well, they do have those sundry shops too, along the streets, but you gotta really go find them. |

HiHi... Has been quite a long time I'm here
lolarose,
Welcome back!
Yes, our DS has started school last Wed and he's settling well into the routine and new environment *phew* Look forward to meeting up!
allegro,
Welcome!
We have no problem getting the sundries in Gubei Carrefour. Think have seen them in the one at Zhong Shan Park too.
ladies,
Our DS came home from school with 3 red bumps on the back of his neck which seems like mossie bites to me. This morning when he woke up, I found another few more bumps at the other side of his neck. He's not having any fever nor bumps turning into blisters so I doubt its chixpox or any other viral. Sticked a mossie patch on his shirt today and written a note to his trs hoping they will monitor today. Anyone with such experience? Issit mossie or some other insect bites??? Btw, he did complain abt itch this morning... |

vandrew My guess is it is probaby mossie bites..u have repellant? Evan used to get them alot when we used to live on a lowere florr...I spray repellant in his room before he goes to bed..it helps. All in an all natural repellant that we use on his skin...
Orientation went fine today so am hoping 2mrw will be a breeze too... Which school is your DS in? You are at Yanlord Riverside?
allegro Well, must let you know that not all CF sell the same things...which to me, is super annoying... But yes, most of those stuff you can find there. If not, holler...this is our 3rd yr here so should be able to help. We are at the Jing An area so pretty close by...
Also if we keep thinking abt the things we shd have brought with us..we will each need a ship! Hahaha..I sent my hub back with so much, brot back as much myself and yet there are more I simply could not bring along....next trip, I tell myself...
But like I have been telling all newbies, there are so much more here now!!! Altho we do have to pay a premium for them but at least they are available
have a nice day, girls... |

Wow...Im not on;ine for 2 days and everyone's back from hols! Great!
Lolarose That will be fine with me...mine is on her second week in school...she was upset that there was no school on the weekends...so i guess she's pretty much settled in....so sure no problem we can meet up for coffee which will help me from being a couch potato!
I have also resolved the ayi issue by hiring a local one...only problem is the lingo...she can speak only chinese and i cant so its mostly sign language....very difficult but she's good so far... |

allegro...i had the same prob of finding stuff in carrefour coz they keep switching their stuff around....but the sundries ar usually found in a corner area...usually behind the phones if it's a one level shop (like in Pudong)....if it's 2 levels usually near the cosmetics counters or thereabouts...but as i said they can switch it around....u just have to keep looking....hard! |

Hi Ladies, I'm back from long summer holiday but I started to miss singapore badly.
The moment i step out from the aircraft, i immediate felt so frustated with this place.
Slow in Custom, Not enough trolly for us to load luggages and need to 'fight' for it, need to carry those heavy luggages to the carpark thru the staircase as there is walkpath for us to push it there.
Loud noise, peoples pushing etc .... is driving me mad .
My kids seem to adepting well than i do. Need to go for facial or spa to relax.....sigh.
Asha, shopping in gubei carrefour to get those stuffs are like treasure hunt. they keep moving the itmes... (may be, they're creating jobs for their staffs......) |

Yesterday returned a vaccum cleaner that was malfunctioning to Carrefour. They have a 7-day return policy right? "if you change your mind". I thought no questions asked. Little did I know I had to show why it was malfunctioning, and when I proved it, they said how cd it be spoilt, it's a philips, cannot refund me money, just replace another similar model (as if I still want it). I had to start the histrionics, ranted and raved in both eng and mandarin, and finally got my money back.
What started off as a polite return transaction ended in a dramatic shouting spree. This is how china works eh? I must get used to it! |

hey all....
it's Merdeka Celebration to Malaysian. In Malaysia, we need to stand still and sing NegaraKu. In Shanghai, anybody wanna sing NegaraKuKu..hahaha!!!
Saw a pretty gal yesterday. Short skirts, singlets, bling bling here n there...branded clothings. As she approach to her SLK500(Mercedez Benz) in red color....i try to take a glance again at her. What happened??
She poked, poked and keep on digging her nose while trying to start her car. GOSH....total turnoff! HAHAHAHHAHAHA
Pretty gal like Angelina Jolie or even a charming guy like Brad Pitt...having this kind of habits....Ewww! Off automatically....
hahahhaa...just for fun |

allegro: I suppose it's like this ... after living here for a while, there are some good days and bad days for me ... On good days, you'll meet people who actually hold the lift for you, actually smile at you, chatty taxi drivers who tell you where are places for good makan etc. On bad days, there'll be cutting queues, you get cheated into buying something, endless argument, a ruthless taxi driver who almost gets into an accident. Ups and downs. After a while, I just get jaded and just accept things the way they are. Probably coz' I just don't wanna argue and end up like them.
The other day, I was with my friends from Singapore and this person tried to cut my queue. So I told him off and he had the cheek to shout back at me. Needless to say, I shouted back. And something like this would've been solved amicably by him taking a step back and stand back in line almost turned out into some street fight. My friends were shocked as I was never like this back in Singapore. But something like this just cannot be tolerated.
I hate the fact that they think they can just cut queues and that people won't mind. That sure irks the hell outta me. |

hello. I'm back - in town and at work. Having bad withdrawal symptoms as I am missing my little one so much as she is in school having fun. It doesn't help that corporate life is the same - full of "lovely" stuff. Bleahhhhh
Sounds like we need another meet up soon - since there are many newbies around.
Allegro - our "rant-and-rave" voice seems to be the "normal" sound decibels here leh. hehehehe...I normally leave such fun stuff to my DH as he's got more energy than me. Very harmful to health man! |
