All this mention of BJ is getting me excited (over the wrong things).

Anyone ever tried the 糖醋排骨 (sugar and vinegar ribs)? It's... a shock to the system. Ribs coated in a thick stick 'gravy' consisting mostly of caramelised sugar and vinegar.
If you run out of coffee/red bull/viagra that dish can probably jump start you. |

I'll have to opt out for next week. I'll be going to Hong Kong for some much needed food therapy. |

Thanks. Which residential area in Pudong is near SSIS? I understand they are in Puxi. But my husband's office is at the Zhangjiang HI-tech Park. So got to compromise that is to stay as close to the school as possible but still resding in Pudong. |

South-East Asians ALERT :
Date: 16 May 2009 Saturday
Time: 12 noon
Note: Pay your own bills
Singapore cuisine Lunch and gathering at Momochacha of Fuzhou Lu, opposite Shanghai Book City. This is where you get (IMHO) really authentic Singapore food and I am definitely not on commission or an owner of that business.

I heard Shanghai's food is bad compare to BJ.
This is my 1st time staying long term in China and I do like BJ very much.. Their people and their food....
Havent fully enjoyed BJ yet when my boss ask me to go to Shanghai. |
Unless you're trying to play with people's minds, might be best if you spell out "Beijing" and abbreviate "SH."
Getting back to the topic, also do not like formal Shanghai food.
However, find a dai pai dong and things are different . . . .
Got to have my jeui gai, chaau nin gou, siu lung baau.
The simple Shanghainese comfort foods are best. |

Just had lunch at momochacha again and guess what... all the dishes, minus 5 out of 10 points. I wonder if they just changed the chef but its a lot blander than the last time I had and the Hor Fun was not as nice smelling anymore. Well, maybe they are modifying to cater to local needs since foreigners constitute only about 25% of their customers. |
