Since you will be working full time I assume, they get very bored if you can spare only the weekends and may be taking the occasional day off in 60 days to be with them. If I were you, I will send them to summer schools full time. These are organised activities (no classes) for kids to kill time and make friends and play over the long summer. You can check out the schools nearby. You need to act fast because these summer schools get filled up very early. Do your children know Chinese? If so there will be more choices otherwise you need to check out only the international schools. Another good thing is, at this age they can pick up Chinese after 60 days staying here which will be a huge bonus.
Not sure if you have many friends who have children at similar age. If so you can swap your children to "sleep over" and they will love it! |

They're your kids, why send them off!
You should take your kids around Shanghai, maybe even go to the nearby cities like; Wuxi, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou etc. |

By summer school it's a full day thing but not boarding. Parent / children should spend quality time so that they don't get bored with each other by not knowing what to do the whole day. Since the father should be working (unless he states otherwise) he cannot spend too much day time with the children Monday to Friday so in order to avoid the children from getting bored and hence losing interest in visiting him ever again, it's very important to get them occupied in the ways they find interesting.
The father can certainly take them to the surrounding towns during the weekends. And also the Science Museum/ Aquarium / Parks in the city. |

"They're your kids, why send them off!"
I am guessing this bloke is probably working full time? If that's the case, why don't you pay his salary for 2 months so he can horsemandick?! |
