| Post subject: Dog Transportation |
Does anyone out there have experience transporting a dog from one city to another inside of China? Some Chinese friends who own pets have given me a few suggestions:
1 - Sedate the animal and take it by train or bus, concealing it from train staff and security people
2 - Legally transport the animal by airplane in the cargo section
3 - Hire a car or moving van to transport you and the animal (are there local moving companies?)
Any other suggestions?
Also, anybody know if a dog needs to be registered in order to be transported by airplane? |

Of course, the quickest way is by airline. Domestically (in China) , some airlines will deal with animals as special cargo. Not all will. We shipped our cats up here from SZ on China Southern. They were very good about it. We had them in animal carriers, I think we made have had to show vet papers that they had no disease, and were directed to special window. They marked the carriers as special handling ( they are put in a regular pressurized and temp controlled luggage area ) and they were put on the same flight as we were on. We just picked them up in baggage claim at the other end ( Shanghai. ) . I am sure they did not like it, but they seemed no worse for the wear. If you have a big dog, there may be weight limits.. you will have to check with your airline. |
