Post subject: Hydrolyzed Baby Formula (Hypoallergenic)??

Does anyone know where I can buy Enfamil Nutramigen formula or Simulac Alimentum formula or a similar extensively hydrolyzed baby formula? Maybe there is a Hong Kong store that will ship?

I have already called the companies that manufacture these brands in China (Mead-Johnson and Abbot Labs) and they have confirmed that they do not manufacture or sell these in China.

(Before the breastfeeding moms jump at me, I would like to note that I have been exclusively breastfeeding for 5+ months and will continue to breastfeed, but as I work full time, I need some formula to supplement what I am able to express while at work -- and unfortunately my baby has had terrible allergic reactions to both regular and soy formulas).

Same problem here, I was told at Worldlink that you don't get this stuff in China. Mine are from back home, if you do find, pls let me know.

There is a Hong Kong company called "Bumps to 3" that ships to Shanghai. I just checked and didn't see formula products in their catalog (though it's not a current catalog), but if they don't have it perhaps if you call then they could point you in the right direction of a company that could ship? 852+2815+0585 or www.bumpto3asia.com. I have spoken with them before and they were super helpful.

Another thought would be to talk to City Supermarket or Pines to see if they would consider importing it on your behalf. I know others who have had success with requesting specific products to be stocked. Good luck finding it!

Another HK store is Bumps to Babes, which is where we got a lot of things (while in HK). Their website sayd they are starting an online store in 2007 which will deliver to "most locations in Asia" and they definitely had many varieties of formula there. check out http://www.bumpstobabes.com/index.htm

Thanks for the help!

There is a German brand of formula available at City Shop that is marked hypo-allergenic if any one else in in the same boat. I did not buy it because it contains soy, which my daughter adversely reacts to -- but maybe it will work for someone else.

They sell special hypoallergenic formulas in the small market on the first floor of the Pudong Children's hospital. I do not think that they have the brands I list above, but they have one called Nutricia Neocate. It is RMB 350 for a small can.

Any useful info would be helpful.
