I do almost the same thing. Instead I use whisky. |

Brita does nothing to remove heavy metals, only an RO filter will do that. Britta is mostly aa activated carbon filter. It filters SOME of the following out: Chlorine, Lead, Asbestos, Turbidity, Benzene, HydroCarbons, TTHMs, Cryptosporidium/Giardia. No idea of efficiency though. But it does make water taste better in many cases since Activated carbon removes odors.
But a Brita filter to use on the cheap alcohols here could be a good idea Brita filtered Baijiu anyone? |

amazing how motivating knowledge is about the one thing we all take for granted... clean water.
One important lesson I learned...just because its clear looking doesnt mean its clean...sigh. |

Here is a 'China' story about water: I was walking through the garden area of our complex(One Park Ave) and saw a water delivery guy wreck his bicycle. One of the large bottles of water was punctured and water was spilling out (there was a hole and a crack in the bottle). He proceeded to roll the bottle over so no water was spilling and put a plastic bag over the hole. Then, he pulled out a lighter and started melting the plastic bag over the crack and the hole to seal it. He then picked up the bottle and another one and carried them right into the apartment building for delivery. |

sounds about right. unfortunately, the delivery guy would otherwise be required to pay for that bottle and the water. 50rmb plus the water, probably some 15rmb adds up to 6-7 meals for such a worker. Sad but true. |

Yeah... filter 'schmilter' - all you are doing by drinking clean water is doing harm to your immune system's future ability to fight off potentially deadly / dangerous diseases. You need to drink water right out of the toilet and chase that with a water from rinsing an ashtray !! Your body will be in better practice for little things like the common cold.... it's all about conditioning people, so let's get to drinking !!!! hahahaha |

I haven't drunk water since I discovered Heineken was cheaper than Evian here. |

Though this is not meant to be commenting on any one's food habits .. and slightly off topic.
It always amuses me in the Check out line in Carrefour, my cart is loaded with cartons of milk, while the westerners' are loaded with evian.... ofcourse the locals always stare at my cart ( they have a great way of looking as though trying to memorize everything, I have in my cart) with a look of horrified fascination that I should buy so much milk... |

I saw one. will talk to them next week about putting together a set of water products that make sense for most of us. God, it probably wont be cheap to get a shower filter to remove chlorine and stuff, a tap filter to remove pesticides and such AND a drinking water RO filter... but in the end i think it will be worth it... i think next week i should have a beter lead on it. ( I have staff asking around for me... ) |

I wonder what the condition of the water is like that they use in making all the commercially available juices and soft drinks here.
maybe they are as bad as the tap water? |

One thing: FEAR
The market fears "dirty" water, so the market will bear a higher price... |
