Post subject: External Degree

Was wondering if anyone here is completing an external degree at present?

I've almost completed my degree back in Australia, but won't be going home anytime soon so would like to transfer to one of the external degrees available at an Aussie uni.

So far I have looked at University of Southern Queensland, University of New England and Murdoch Uni.

While I know everyone's experience will be different according to the uni, what they are studying, etc I'm interested to know what it has been like studying externally in Shanghai.

Thanks!

I've previously done an External Master's Degree with Swinburne University in Melbourne. I was living in Sydney at the time though not Shanghai.

I did their Masters of Science in Astronmy. I think that its a bit easier if you do Master's by Course work externally. Masters courses are pretty much self driven
anyway. All the course material was avaible online and much of it was lots and lots of reading. Most of the papers were available with the course but if you had to
refer to external papers, its a bit more difficult. I did this while I was in Sydney though and even then it was hard to get the texts and articles I needed to read.
This depends on your field, I imagine that it would be harder to get access to papers that the university doesn't provide.

I don't know about Bachelor degrees though. Mine was very practical and hands-on (in Robotics) so it wouldn't have worked out well as an external course I think.
There are also rules from the Australian Institute of Engineers which requires a certain amount of professional experience (internship). So again this depends on your
degree.
