they are like siblings, fights are essential, but you still love eachother.

The rumour is partly true, except that it's the other way around, the Canadians don't like the Americans. It's very old and started because America calls themselves the greatest country in the world and many Americans think Canada is part of the US. Actually Canada is larger than the US and like they say "we're on top" |

Why would Americans like Canadians, we do everything right, have everything they have (except all the shi1t things about their country like guns, slavery, ghettos, institutionalize racism, sh1t foreign policy and a retarded leader) and we make billions and billions off making them laugh with our comedians and entertaining them with our musicans. I really dont think people in Canada are jealous of the USA, i can't see anything they have that Canadians dont.
Anyway, the vast majority of Canadians are not anti-American. They are un-American. Which is a big difference.
The older/younger brother analogy is a good one. We often think we need the USA in case anyone invades Canada so we like the bigger brother to be on our side. But the fact is the bigger brother is the only one who has ever tried to attack us so in a way it is kind of stupid to have that fear. |

nobody likes americans. surprise, surprise.
americans don't hate canadians. we just don't care enough. personally, i was never aware of any negative feelings either way. i grew up not far from canada and travelled there often. it's a beautiful place that produces great ice wine, maple syrup and hockey players. and i personally love them for that.
it is peculiar that only canadians get revved up about this topic... (ghetto envy indeed  ) i've met some great canadians here, and also some hopelessly boring ones, but no standout asswipes. i just wish i could say the same about my fellow americans. |

The topic seems like a lame wind-up attempt. I like Canada and most Canadians I've met. Agree the dislike seems to be mostly on the other side; although frankly, who can blame them lately. I'm fairly pissed at the U.S. myself right now. |

i think that line somes it up about 100%. but in canada we are forced to know a lot about the usa and then most canadians are shocked when they learn the usa doesnt know much about canada and doesnt really care. which i think is the beginning of canadians animosity (if u can call it that)

honestly, why do canadians think they should be any different than like any other country out there? seriously, the average american knows schit all about most any country. it's not a canada-specific problem. i wish it were that easy.

I've heard that about other countries too. Shocked that we don't learn their history & such, but they learn ours. I never understood that either. We learn our history, then General world history. No countries in particular, mostly regions. Europe, Asia, Africa.
Not really sure why any other country would focus on ours, unless they're confusing it with the same thing, "General World History." And hey, you have to admit, we're good at getting ourselves in the history books. |
