| Post subject: Backpacking backpacks in Shanghai? |
Where can one find quality backpacking backpacks in Shanghai? I'm looking for stores that carry Osprey.
Any recommendations on stores specialising in quality outdoor sports equipment and gear, or that carry quality backpacking gear in genearl would be helpful.

From what I have seen so far in China, they do not have the really high quality brands. I like the backpacks and tents from Macpac (NZ). I bought my backpack, the Macpac Torres at Protrek in HK. They have about 7 outlets there. Or you can order online at http://outsidesports.co.nz/ , you would have to check if they carry Osprey as well.
I ordered a Macpac tent with them, and had it delivered to me in Shanghai within 5 days. |

Northface is available or columbia, dunno how good it's according to your standard. I got my 50litre northface from Parkson for more than RMB1000. It's a bout the right price, just the fact of so many unnecessary zeroes hurt my mind |

They also carry Asolo Black Diamond Bigpack Camp Chaco Garmont Kailas Luxe Leatherman Lowa Montrail MH W N ikwax Northland Osprey Oyea&Raybao Petzl Princeton-T Pureland Sunto Treksta Victorinox Vaude Vasque. Packs, clothes, tents other gear. if they dont have in stock, they order.

There is a new place in Jin Qiao that carries much of the same stuff that yu888 mentioned plus a couple of others. Suprisingly large selection.
The place is on Biyun Lu across from Green City and Carrefour. |

Wow custom sized?? I should have gone there... it's hard to carry backpack that's not well fitted, ess when it's heavy. |

yeah they have the molding machine that molds certain brands of backpacks to the specified user. A misfit back pack on a long trip TRULY sucks as you cannot carry nearly as much stuff when it doesnt conform well to you.

yu888, just wanted to say thanks again for the recommendation to this place. I went yesterday - they have a good selection of Osprey packs and other outdoor sports gear. And, I got the Osprey atmos that I was looking for.
