| Post subject: Restrictions on hand luggage |
Hi,
I am going back home for holiday soon and was just thinking last time there was an issue about bringing fluid in the hand luggage. This was only a problem in my home country, not from China. But I just want to be sure...
Do you know if there are any rules like this (restrictions on how much fluid you can bring) from China?
Thanks! |

Starting from May 1, China has placed similar restriction on fluid in carry-on luggage on all international flights. How and if it is enforced various between airports. |

The ziplock bag and nothing over 3oz. in carryon luggage is in effect. If you purchase any liquids at Duty Free, have your receipt available at the gate to the airplane or you won't be permitted to take your liquids on the aircraft. I purchased a small bottle of water after clearing security and baggage screening only to have it confiscated at the 2nd check before I got on the aircraft. If you have to change planes in your home country to reach your final destination, be prepared to place your "liquid" duty free purchases in your checked baggage before dropping bags for a connecting flight! Happy Trails!! |

Better not carry anything 'coz the arguement with people pass the immigration is simply not worth your time and energy. It seems to me that they follow the rule so black and white that they even asked the guy behind me to throw away his little toothpaste. It was right that they have this regulation applied in China as well, more for international flights.
My 5 bottles lotion were held at the airport when I came without check in my only small bagpack. It was such a hassle 'coz I couldnt check in the luggage, the counter had closed, but also didnt want to throw away the things, luckily SQ staffs were so kind to make sure that the items were safe with them til I came back week after to collect them. Too much trouble that I actually helf the flight for few minutes.
You could browse on www.singaporeair.com as ref to check out how the regulation works. |

Thanks for your responses!
arghh...why does it have to be like that. 3 oz is NOTHING.
I am 7 months pregnant and I really want to bring stuff like milk and chocolate milk, because without it I feel horrible and this long flight will probably be horrible enough as it is... |

I am diabetic and travel to China monthly from the US. Also travel extensively throughout China. As a diabetic, I am allowed a medical bag which is not restricted by size. Also can carry all the insulin I need plus carry gel packs to keep insulin cool. Gel is normally not allowed by air carriers. Each airline posts on its website what is or is not allowed on their airplanes. Most airlines allow same items based on US TSA recommendations.
Besides medical supplies, baby formula and other items for babies are exempt. I am not sure what all those items are as my kids are grown up. Check the airline websites and you will know exactly what is or is not allowed. |
