Post subject: How I Saved an Ex-Pat Clients Life – True Story

[/b]The Importance of Quality Global Medical Insurance:

It started as a beautiful sunny Spring Saturday morning in May 2006 when my cellular phone rang. I didn’t really think much of the call even though family and friends would usually call my home before my cell phone. This was no regular call, which turned this into an irregular morning, my clients wife was on the line and in a distressful voice Patricia said, “John, my husband just suffered a major stroke and the doctor said we need to get him to the United States for emergency surgery as soon as possible or he will die”.

John F., my client, was a 62 year-old CEO of an Oil company in Anaco, Venezuela…over a 4 hour car ride to the capital of Caracas, basically living in the middle of a country with limited facilities to treat my client, much less save his life with a successful surgery and rehab.

Patricia informed me that they had to take John F. in a ground ambulance to an American trained cardiologist 3 hours outside his city. It was time for me to go to work and save my clients life! I immediately called the emergency 24 hour service at the Medical Insurance office and as a team we began to coordinate communications with the cardiologist in Venezuela, make arrangements to pick John F. up in a Private Air Ambulance Jet with a medical crew, as well as contact the hospital in Houston, that would be responsible to pick him up at the airport and transport him to their emergency facility. I’m telling you, the wheels were turning and the adrenaline was pumping…a controlled type of madness is how I best describe it.

By Sunday afternoon we had an Air Ambulance Jet on the ground in the middle of nowhere, Venezuela. John F. was stabilized and transported to Houston and a quadruple bypass was performed to perfection. Within 3 days, John F. was conscious and in Speech & Occupational rehabilitation….I asked him how he felt, he said in a low voice, “I’m not ready to play 18 holes of golf, but I’m sure I can go 9 holes”. That’s the John I knew…cracking jokes in the midst of near death.

The Moral of the Story: You can’t predict what obstacles life throws your way, but you can protect yourself with a Quality Global Medical policy and a damn good broker!

Note: This is not the first clien’ts life I’ve saved…that’s what I feel sets me and my company apart…we make ourselves available to our clients 24/7. Oh yeah, I met with John & Patricia in Miami on March 8th, 2007…and he’s never looked or felt better!
