Post subject: Tours in t¡bet

Hi,

I plan to spend a few days in t¡bet but I really do not know the place : I contacted a local agency who can give me a permit if I buy a package to Everest base camp such as this one :

Day1.lhasa drive to yamdrok lake and drive to -gyantse(visit palkor choede
monastery and over night)
Day2.Gyantse drive to Shigatse and then drive to Sakya (visit sakya
monastery and over night)
Day3.Sakya drive to new tingri drive to Rongbuk monastery-EBC (over night
at rongbuk monastery or EBC tea tent)
Day4.EBC drive to Shigatse (over night)
Day5.Shigatse (visit tashilhunpo monastery and drive back to lhasa)

this type of tour cost 6580 yuan
1.Included in the trip -Driver,Guide,Toyota landcruiser,traveling permit
and food and accomodation for guide and Driver and Everest Entrance fee for
the Car 400 yuan .
2.Not Included in the trip-tourist food and acoomdation and all the
Entrance fee of the monasteries and Everest fee 180 yuan per person.

To get use to the place I plan to stay on my own in Lhasa for 2/3 days to visit the city.
Can anyone who have been there tell me if :
- this package seems interesting ?
- Where is actually the Everest base camp ?
- price is reasonnable or not ?
- How much should I expect to pay during the tour for my accomodation and food as it is not included (and do I need to make reservations) ?

Any advise appreciated,
thanks

You have to make sure that you can really go there because the government has changed the rules after some young American students hung up a banner in t¡bet. Most places outside Lhasa are now "locked down" if you're a foreigner.
