There is a a free playable demo available for download, same with F1. I also downloaded the trailer for Colin McCrae Rally DIRT and it looks amazing.

Also, what's everyones online ID? Sadly i was devoid of inspiration and like Fiddler chose something from this site, GingerPrince.

Sorry about all these questions, if my plasma tv has a resolution of 1024x1024, does this mean it is hd ready or can reach hd resolutions?? I still have to hook up the PS3 and if my plasma can reach a high definition then I can wait to buy a full hd lcd.

That means its *not* HD, so it will downscale the picture to a resolution it supports.
HD is 1900 x 1080 (screens are usually 1920x 1200). I'm thinking about upgrading my screen in the office to a full HD one - the Dell 24" is 4k now, and that does everything I need.
Right now i'm on a lowly Samsung 210T which does 1600 x 1200. Its bigger than the 22" Acers I've been buying the staff though Wink

Typically if something says HD Ready on the front, its not HD.

^ CS your not exactly right, 1900 x 1080p is full high definition, but there are also 720p and 1080i
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_television

Most online HD content is 720p,

High-definition television (HDTV) resolution is 1080 or 720 lines. In contrast, regular digital television (DTV) is 486 lines (upon which NTSC is based) or 576 lines (upon which PAL/SECAM are based). However, since HD is broadcast digitally, its introduction sometimes coincides with the introduction of DTV. Additionally, current DVD quality is not high-definition, although the high-definition disc systems HD-DVD and Blu-ray are.

My laptop is High Def capable
Anything capable of displaying 720 lines across is classed as high def ( basically if your TV has an HDMI/DVI/component ports its high def capable)

So rocco you should be fine to play games in high def, just not the bells and whistles version.

^ your welcome, enjoy the glorious graphics of your PS3, for now Full ( not the right term, caus there will be a new standard sooner rather than later, there always is!!) HD is a little too expensive to justify, unless you have a signal providing 1080p content, although Bluray does this, there isnt a lot of content just yet, and no TV signal in this country.

Sony or MS, geez, which is the lesser of the two evils?

BTW I don't think there's THAT big a difference between the 360 and PS3 as some have suggested, though time will tell I suppose.

On a side note, in Japan Nintendo currently has 80% of the software market, totally whooping ass. Which is huge if you consider so many of the top Japanese developers use the Japanese market as a kind of testing ground before launching titles elsewhere. Pity the Wii is so underpowered, I think Sony will come into its own next year, when the price drops and the big titles come out, which is probably when I'll pick up a PS3, nothing on it grabs my interest at the moment.

The one thing microsoft has in its favour is the head start, but the news http://www.shanghaidaily.com/sp/article/2007/200707/20070707/article_3 22398.htm that they will replace any faulty consoles, give buyers a 3 year guarantee and such is also a bonus, No chance of sony offering that ( they only sold a zillion ps2 consoles caus' of the returned faulty boxes they sold and then replaced) My friend had 7 in 2 years, i had 3, sold my last one for a used XBOX and had that three years, not a glitch.

Ok now am confused........went to Best Buy to get my Full hd LCD to hook up to the PS3..........the prices were good all round much more competitive than any other place in town. I was going to go for the Bravia X series, but the guy told me that the Samsung Full HD is better and sharper because the HDMI version is 1.3 where as the Sony one is still 1.1. What to do? Does this really make such a big difference? The 2 LCD's were next to eachother and I have to admit the Samsung looked sharper, but doesn't that have something to to with how you setup your picture sharpness.........Am confused, please somebody help..........mr computersolutions, sirfiddler...give us a hand.

is there a big gap in price ?

i am not an expert on all this i must admit, that' why i just bought the first lcd hd one i saw i liked that was somewhat reasonably priced as it's only for playing the ps3 every once in a blue moon when i have time.

They are both the same price, 46inch full HD, both around 27000rmb, plus with some discount below 27k, consider that best buy are over 3000rmb cheaper than any other store. At first the guy told me the sony, but when i said I was also going to play PS3, then he suggested the Samsung due to the better HDMI version. And that made me evn more confused.........

Ive always looked at the 360 as the console of choice for the final chance to be masterchief (no not lloyd grossman), but with pricing wars i may buy both!! just so i can play MG Solid again, amongst others.

just an idea : for a 27k sale the guys should actually not mind you bringing your ps3 around, hooking it up to the tv in the shop and then decide for yourself....

i've seen demos this weekend for Gran Tourismo and Rainbox Six Vegas ....Holy crap those look awesome. With GT you really can't tell the difference anymore. Looked like I was watching a report on Rally driving on ESPN....

I am guessing the KDL-46X2000 (europe) is the equivalent to the KLV-46x200A here in china, they always change the model names here in china, have no idea why, but the specs are the same. The KLV-46x200A is the one they have in Best Buy at 26990rmb, and they will even give a further discount.
