| Post subject: Hack/Unlock Sony DVD Player |
Hey, a long while ago I bought a Sony DVD player , DVP50S or so, that of course came region coded. Dont want to rant on about how pished off I am with the fact that you're actually ending up at the short end of the stick if you support the industry by buying originals but does anybody know how to unlock a player like that ?
I've been googleing over the past couple of months, and while I found codes for other players that worked, just can't find any for my Sony one...
Anyone got an idea how to solve this issue ? |

^Fiddler try this see if it works
I have a Sony DVP-NS51P and I used this hack, it works!!!
It was meant for the following models but the first method worked for me.
DVP-NS300, DVP-NS305, DVP-NS400D, DVP-NS700, DVP-S330, DVP-S335, DVP-S360, DVP-S336, DVP-S525D, DVP-S530D, DVP-S535D, DVP-S536D, DVP-S725D, DVP-S735D,
Multi-Region:
• Turn On the unit with the remote controller
• Wait until "no disc" appears in the unit's display
• Press Pause, 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9
• The word "CODE" should appear in the display
• Within five seconds, press the key that corresponds to the zone you want i.e. 0 for region free, 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2 and so on
• Again, within 5 seconds, press Pause and Power
If the above fails to work then you may wish to try the following:
• Put the player into Standby mode
• Press 1 and Return on remote for region 1, or 2 and Return for region 2, and so on. Use 0 and Return to return player to default region settings
• Press P-Mode and Return to play DVD's with the selected region, auto-switching is Off
• Press Audio and Return for auto-switching On
• Press Angle and Return for MacroVision On
• Press Subtitle and Return for MacroVision Off

Or you could try this
Region code hack posted by Eye of the tiger, January 01 2007:
Sony DVP-NS50P
It works for NS50P, NS575 and the most models of the families NS50 e NS500.
With the DVD player turned off(stand by), press:
TOP MENU
CLEAR
POWER
Choose option 2 and after option 4. Type:
12450 [press enter]
00000
The tray will open and close repetedly. Unplug the power cable and afterwards turn it on again.
Done! Your DVD is now multi-zone.
Good luck |

i have a sony dvd player but can't remember the model as it's in the wifes parents in the north of china. i spent ages trying to find the unlock codes and it was only by accident, ie trying different dvd's, that i found it was not actually locked in the first place. |

^ yes some sony dvd players are region free, some have codes but more and more dvd players from major brands are now hack free, all to rip us ( i.e the consumer)off on disc costs and new hardware if we move from one region to another. And ii will get worse with DRM and bluray/HD technology. |

Region codes are hard coded into the players today because of international law, even if you buy them here in China. |

that's still soooo not clever because you punch the ones in the nuts that actually do buy originals. They sell a DVD player that only plays originals from one region BUT lets you play copy ones you can buy all over the place. Just dont seem to make sense to me
They should come up with one then , that plays ALL dvds from all regions with region coding but not the copy ones... |

The only place in the world where you can buy all region DVD's (so far) is China. The law prevents you from buying DVD's in one region selling them in another one. There are still All Region DVD's on the market overseas (instructional videos etc.) |
