Post subject: Where'd you EAT last night?

Some of the other sections have such a thread, and I thought it about time the food section had one where a selection of restaurants could be viewed in one place.

So, very simply, where you ate last night, the address (cross roads), a two or three line review, the cost and a mark out of five.

Looking for a large variety of places, so wherever it was, is fine.

----
I'll start:

Simply Thai, Jinqiao
Good service though slighly pricey. Had the money bags, duck and pineapple curry, phad thai, chicken and cashews and a mixture of skewers. All was great except for the chicken and cashews - too doughy.
2 people, completely stuffed and 2 bottles of beer for around Rmb300.

3.5/5

Barbarossa.
Nanjing Lu #231, in People's Park
Wonderful decor and ambience
Drinks weren't that great, bartendar's must have gotten 1 days worth of training
Mediterranean dishes we had were sad attempts at the real thing, at least for the price.
Biggest complaint though was getting some dips but only a couple of small pieces of pita to eat them with. So I ask for some more bread to eat my dip with.
Silly me...I expect this to be a "free" thing, why would I need to pay for more bread to eat my dips with, when they didn't give me enough in the first place.

Well, I guess I was supposed to eat the dips with my fingers, because they stuck me 28 RMB for 5 more pieces of bread.

Go there for drinks and the ambience. 5 stars for that.
Food is overpriced and not so great.

Thai House
Wuding Lu by Xikang Lu
The vermicelli salad was great... spicy and fragrant...tried 2 curries... both very sweet. Is authentic thai curry really so sweet? I kind of prefer a savory curry. About 65 per person.

C by House of Flour (Beijing xi lu by xikang lu)
Everyone's gotta try their empanadas and C cake. I especially love the beef one... has got harrisa in it. C cake is just a made in heaven mix of chocolate and cheese. about 55 per person

Tang Cao (the sweet dynasty)
Huaihai lu, basement of complex in same building with crystal jade and wagas. Metro huangpi South Lu exit 3
An import from HK... reasonably good food and excellent asian desserts. There are many restaurants with the same name in shanghai but only this is the real one from HK...endorsed by SK-11 model QiQi and her beau! 60-70 rmb/person

I was about to ask when the last time you saw food, jumbokoi... Razz I agree that Thai House could serve some crazily sweet dishes. I like sweet taste but too much at times

Thai House...tell them you want "Thai" not "farong".

They sweeten it for the local tastes. If asked, they will knock it down a bit. If still too sweet...ask for the Nam Pla...Fish Sauce. Will cut the sweetness down.

Spot Bar
Lamb Pita Sandwich
~40?
Good lamb, fresh pita. Not bad for bar food while playing pool.

Forgot streets. Tongren Lu 100 meters south of Beijing Lu

Thai Gallery, more Thai cuisine, it's located on 127-1 Da tian Rd (West Beijing Rd), we tried both red curry and greed curry, food is great there. The service and environment are pretty satisfied:)
Would like to try again soon...

I had my dinner tonight at Stone Cold Creamery. "Founder's Favorite" ice cream recipe with coconut instead of brownie. One of the best dinners I've had yet. Feeling a bit oversweeted right now though. You can find Cold Stone Creamery at Raffles Plaza/People's Square. t¡bet Road and Jiu Jiang Road. 52 yuan for the largest size with a waffle cone.

Mediterraneo
1317 Wuding Xi Lu, by Jiangsu Lu
Has a fabulous garden area! I had the fish which was good. They also had a good wine selection.
Approx. 100 kuai a dish.
Nice place and would recommend it - however, go when you can sit in the garden.

The owner of the placetold me she is supervisong the quality all the time. We got a deal 2/ 10 inches pizzas and 2 drinks for RMB 99.
