| Post subject: shop selling baby clothes, cribs, high chairs etc ? |
Does anyone know of a good store which sells furniture for babies and toddlers? We are moving to Shanghai in one week and will need to purchase a crib/bed, high chair etc. Also, anyone know of a store selling baby clothes? Baby toys? We will be living in Pudong, are there any good baby shops in this area? |

Toys Are Us 4th floor Superbrand Mall Pudong-Luijazui (next to Pearl Tower) has a pretty large selectrion of the items you mentioned including chairs, strollers, toys, highchair, (did not specifically notice beds but will chek for you today). You should have no problem finding infant clothing here at any number of places from dept stores to fakes markets. Diapers, wipes. babywash/shampoo all readily available at supermarkets (Lotus Supermarket - Basement level 2 at Superbrand also) Welcome to Shanghai! I hope you are ready for the heat and humidity!! Babies are the number one thing local families are willing to spend money on. Thus baby products ranging from basic local stuff to high end branded stuff is readily available in many places across town. You will have no problems getting diapers, bottles, accesseries, pads, cribs, clothing etc here. Even imported formula is available via outlets like Metro.
but Toys R Us is a good start, then happy hunting for the best deals around, many places will deliver. My wife has diapers delivered every few weeks so we dont need to store a ton of it. Clothing of various sorts in many dept stores but there are alos many baby-oriented malls and centers around and after you hit ground here, i am sure you will be able to search thru othe forum as well as get more details form other expats here. |

Was there a little earlier to confirm previous (Toys R'Us) post, various styles of cribs, from small portable to wooden ones with all the bells and whistles. Various types of strollers from large to small umbrella style, playpens, pottie seats, highchairs, playmobiles, various fisher price toys, plastic castles (we had one in our dining room for years), play stuff, etc, etc..... Good luck with your relo, once you get on the ground I think you will find it pretty easy to find what your looking for. A lot of resources and people to offer direction and advice! Rgds Ken
P.S. If you don't have a van or driver, you can call one of the taxi companies that has small trucks available for a little higher rate then their taxis for transporting such items! |

On the Puxi side there is a huge market called Ni Hong Children's Plaza devoted to mainly babies/children's clothing and some toys. It's a little awkward to find the entrance but is at 10 Puan Lu, jut north of Jinling Lu. Basically, find Huai Hai Zhong and Huang Pi Bei rds and go a block north and east. You will see an entrance that goes into a basement.
I think some of the cheapest children's clothes are at Qi Pu Market on the 3rd flr of the older market building (sth/east at cross roads). Qi Pu market is at the cnr of Qi Pu Rd and He Nan Bei Rd. Take the road up north and over the creek.

If you're in Pudong then the 第一八佰伴 Babaiban shopping mall, just off the Dongchang Rd metro stop, is also an option. We bought our bed, cloth diapers, and some clothes there.
And lots of stores will deliver, so don't be afraid to ask. |
