Post subject: Using Union Pay outside China
Not sure where I should post this but hope this is the right one.

Did anyone ever tried using the Union Pay card in ATMs outside of China? And if you did, did you had any problems?

I'm asking for a friend and he's having a bit of a problem in Thailand, but we're hoping that it was the ATM machine that ran out of money.

I've used my ICBC debit card with the Union Pay logo at ATMs in the States last time I was there. Not all of the ATMs accepted the card, and none of them had the Union Pay logo displayed on the machine. I was able to get money from from about 70% of the machines I tried.

Thanks for the response Very Happy I think we figured out the problem. I think it's a matter of which currency you make the deposit in. It was RMB vs. USD...quite confusing really.
